  1. Plastic Dreams by Jaydee Remixes!

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Jaydee’s Plastic Dreams is an early 90s tribal trance classic. IT came out with a bang in 1992 and was around for quite sometime. It was one of those early trance tracks that you just couldn’t get enough of. You know Stella by Jam And Spoon, The Age Of Love by The Age Of Love and Plastic Dreams by Jaydee! Before For An Angel by Paul Van Dyk came onto the scene and brought trance to the masses. Then later on in the 90s and the 2000s countless new remixes were commissioned so to this day Plastic Dreams is one of those rare electronic and dance tracks that will never be forgotten about and will continue to receive the remix treatment. The original 1992 version still is classic for me as it has that repetitive ongoing euphoric tribal groove that just wont stop. It’s perfect on extacy. LOL I’m not recommending that you go and dance to this track while you take some E but sure was fun back in the day.

Anyway fast forward to 2011 and new remixes have been released and they are pretty darn good while keeping the spirit of the original Plastic Dreams by Jaydee. But guess what there were remixes of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee released in 2004 as well that are worth noting.

One of my favorite remixes of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee is the Plastic Dreams (Andrea Doria “Is It Breaks?” Remix) as that thing kicks like a mule. Oh wait that’s another song but you know what I mean. If you don’t know Andrea Doria then you should check out Bucci Bag!

In the collection of Plastic Dreams Remixes from 2011 my favorite remix is a tie with Plastic Dreams (Dino Lenny & Amnesia Remix) and Plastic Dreams (Housebangerz feat. Mc Joe Remix). I must say though overall the remixes from 2011 are more along the line of the original Plastic Dreams versus the 2004 Remixes collection of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee which were more banging and big beats. What do you think?

  3. It’s Our Future by Tom Wax Covers AWeX!

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Techno Acid classic It’s Our Future by AWeX gets the remake treatment by Tom Wax one half of AWeX himself and I have to say I love this remake. It’s the perfect update for the times and the sound today. Although I’m pretty partial to the original as I have probably overplayed It’s Our Future and countless other similar Techno Acid cuts from that era for example Access by DJ Misjah & DJ Tim (one of my favorite cuts of all time) of electronic music this remake to the AWeX classic It’s Our Future by Tom Wax is pretty darn cool.

It’s Our Future became so huge that it was the anthem of the Love Parade in Berlin in 1995!

  4. Simple Things (Work It Out) (Todd Terje Version) by Shit Robot

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Simple Things (Work It Out) is one of the funniest electro/techno tracks that I’ve heard. I especially love the funny vocals with even funnier lyrics and funniest yet squeals here and there almost reminding me of Prince sung by Ian Svenonius. It’s quite the fun track from Shit Robot off of his album From The Cradle To The Rave. Other great cuts off of From The Cradle To The Rave include Take Em Up (one of my favorites), Losing My Patience, Tuff Enuff? which kind of reminds me of Laidbacks’s 80s hit White Horse and I Got A Feeling. All great cuts and all released as excellent 12″ singles with great remixes. Overall the album has a retro feel to it covering some disco sounds, techno and house and it’s a great first album. And I can’t get enough of the name Shit Robot! It’s just fun!! And that’s what the album is all about!

Simple Things (Work It Out) (Todd Terje Version) is more upbeat than the whole From The Cradle To The Rave album. Perfectly remixed in disco flavor by Todd Terje and being the fan of Todd Terje I seek out any remixes he does and Simple Things (Work It Out) (Todd Terje Version) clocks in just under 10 minutes. It’s a good work out and great for working out. Perfect nu disco beats with funny vocals by Ian Svenonius.

  5. Aufstand by Gesaffelstein

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Aufstand by Gesaffelstein kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the kind of music that you want force feed your everyday average joe that listens to cuntry, rock, pop, music that is overly mass produced shit by the majors.

I just can’t stop listening to this all techno monster of a recording Aufstand by Gesaffelstein. It’s deep, dark, hard, eerie, sleazy and long mix of beats that takes you on a journey through long tunnels at fast speeds. And it goes on for 8 long minutes. It’s the best techno recording I have heard of since, ah the mid 90s? It’s got to be. Aufstand by Gesaffelstein takes me back to the early 90s when techno was just making a big impact on dance music with recordings by Underworld and those types of guys but this sounds just much more fresh and sonically high quality. The early 90s techno recordings had such a lo-fi quality to them but this track Aufstand by Gessaffelstein and the rest of his tracks on the Conspiracy, Pt. 1 – Single are all top notch. If you like Underworlds Second Toughest In The Infants CD with tracks like Rowla or Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream Of Love or even Dark + Long by Underworld then you will love Gesaffestein and then some. With techno music this good I can’t wait until I hear something new from Gesaffelstein!

More Gesaffelstein tracks (and remixes he’s done) that are worthy to check out are also listed below. Check out Errance / Crainte EP by Gesaffelstein & The Hacker. I love The Hacker and think this EP is quite nice too.

    Original Music Releases:

Conspiracy, Pt. 1 – Single by Gesaffelstein

  6. Moby Samples Laura Palmer’s Theme For Go!

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Yes it has been 20 years ago that I fell in love with that techno sound that always seemed to feature samples from TV shows, films and other sound effects and Moby’s track Go and especially the Woodtick Mix was the track I came back to over and over again to listen to. It was one of the best examples of techno/dane music by an American musician. I was mostly listening to band from Belgium at the time like Lords Of Acid’s, T99′s Anasthacia, Liquid’s Sweet Harmony, DJ’s Take Control by SL2 and of course Prodigy’s Charly! Don’t forget XL Records The First Chapter CD! Check out The Ansaphone by Johnny L! That thing rocks!!!!!!!!! I was listening to that thing over and over! I immediately fell in love with this and I couldn’t wait to hear more from the little known musician named Moby!

I’ve been a fan since then and always anticipate what’s coming up next from Moby. But the best music he ever released were the ones from the earlier years. Especially cuts like Next Is The E, Move, Drop A Beat, Feeling So Real, Everytime You Touch me, Bring Back My Happiness and so on! Oh those were the days of good old techno dance music. Weren’t they? Well we can check out this 20 year old cut Go (especially the RAINFOREST REMIX) which samples the famous Laura Palmer’s Theme by Angelo Badalamenti from David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and relive those days again. They’ll come back!

  7. Afro-Left (Afro-Ride) by Leftfield Is Best Remix Ever?

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

By the time Leftfield’s masterpiece of an electronic dance album Leftism was released in 1995 I had already had the pleasure of hearing several of their earlier singles starting with Not Forgotten all the way back in 1990 to Song Of Life in 1992 to Open Up with John Lydon of Sex Pistols in 1993 just less than 2 years before their amazing debut album Leftism had left a major impression on me and the electronic and dance music culture and since then there has not been as excellent of an album like Leftism. Well there have been but not that many.

Afro-Left is the second cut off of Leftism and it’s one of those African/electronic tribal tech cuts that’s quite good on it’s own. It’s upbeat but not banging but it’s got a good groove you can get down to. Once you get into the remix Afro-Left (Afro-Ride) is when things really get frenetic brimming with electronic energetic XTC.  Afro-Left (Afro-Ride) is 10 minutes of electronic dance music pleasure! It’s the best remix ever made, I think. The frenetic almost drum and bass style beats don’t pick up fast it starts quite slow and dreamy. The remix builds starting with Djum Djum’s singing and chanting then slowly builds up into the upbeat style that I have fallen in love with. If I had to pick the best remix this would be it and I totally love remixes and hear countless remixes over and over again. But this is it. It’s just the bomb! I was happy to have also heard it on the soundtrack to Wipeout 2097 which featured some of the best electronic and dance cuts around 1995/1996.

Two years later Leftfield released another excellent album called Rhythm & Stealth. Later disappearing off the face of the earth. Well their still around but nothing has been released from them since then. Maybe something for a 20 year reunion?

If you can get your hands on Leftism do so. It’s not available as a download on iTunes but Amazon has both the download and the CD so snatch it up. If you can get the double disc CD release even better as you have some great additional remixes or versions of cuts from the amazing Leftism album.

    Leftism Track List:

    Afro-Left
    Melt
    Song Of Life

  8. Star 69 (Thomas Gold Remix) by Fatboy Slim

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

New remixes of old dance and electronic tracks are my cup of tea! And when I heard about this new remix of Star 69 by Fatboy Slim I was first in line to check it out and I have to say it’s pretty darn good. Love the long breakdowns and big ass beats withe the lyrics that we have come to love from the original Star 69 track! What The Fuck! This new remix came out last year for the 10th anniversary of the original release of Star 69 and was originally on the Fatboy Slim album Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars. Timo Maas had had remixed Star 69 in 2000 as part of the single along with DJ Gotfather and X-Press 2 and I think this new Thomas Gold Remix is just as good if not better. The Timo Maas remix still hold up today and is worth checking out. This new remix is certainly in the style of what’s being played in the clubs today and it’s a fusion of house and electro beats. I

I’m sure this one of those cuts that is definitely one that is definitely on heavy rotation. More updated Fatboy Slim remixes please?

  9. Can You Feel The Passion (Palladium Mix) by Blue Pearl

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

What happened to Blue Pearl? Can You Feel The Passion (Palladium Mix) was one of those electronic techno house tracks that I probably overplayed back in the early 90s. It was on a compilation called Rave ‘Til Dawn and just had really nice bass to blast from your car. I was only 21! Electronic and techno house music was booming from all over the place and I was very happy! So much cool music was being released and this was one them. The song is dark, sexy with lots of moaning and groaning and it has that classic early 90s piano house touch thrown in. It was one of those tracks that combined a lot of rock and guitar elements with the electronic and techno beats with the piano house. So it was quite unique!

Can You Feel The Passion and Naked In The Rain were the only two hits released by Blue Pearl and once those came out they vanished and never to be heard from again. Although Naked In The Rain has been rereleased with new remixes several times since then I still think their bigger cooler hit was Can You Feel The Passion! What do you think? Below you will find the US Remix version and the Palladium Mix which was on the Rave ‘Til Dawn compilation.

  10. I Wander (Christopher Just Remix) by Louie Austen

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Take Frank Sinatra and add dance electronic dance beats and that’s what you get when you listen to Louie Austen. It’s the most interesting combo around ever. If you are still waiting for the Warner Brothers group to remix Frank Sinatra’s greatest hits then wait no longer you can get all original music from the smoother than ever Louie Austen. Louie Austen’s music reminds you of any of those oldy crooners from time forgotten with a new dance beat. Louie Austen’s music is all original song produced by the best German electronic and dance producers and remixers.

I first heard of Louie Austen after listening to a Hotel Costes CD. I think it was Hotel Costes 5 and the song was One Night In Rio. I was totally hooked to his sound. One Night In Rio is more lounge with dance beats but I was really looking for more music. Later discovered more and more including songs with Peaches and other tasty goodies and finally I was hooked. Since then I’ve picked up whatever new material Louie Austen has released.

His latest offering is Last Man Crooning/ Electrotaining You, the double album which is basically the album Last Man Crooning and Electrotaining You is the companion remix CD. A very nice collection because the remixes are all top notch here including this awesome remix of I Wander by Christopher Just. Of course the original I Wander is the mellower poppier version and the Christopher Just Remix is the more lively, quirky electronic almost festive version here. It’s very groovy and knowing it’s remixed by Christopher Just I would expect nothing else. Other remixers on Electrotaining You are Acid Washed, Rodion, Phonique and more.

  11. Stay Down (Julian Jeweil Remix) by Moby

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

I absolutely love it when a remix moves me and that’s just what this Julian Jeweil remix of Moby’s Stay Down did to me. It’s one of the best remixes I have heard of in quite some time. It’s quite amazing in fact and deserves to be written about. Until I heard this remix of Stay Down I had not heard of Julian Jeweil before. Who is he? Don’t know much about him but I like what I hear so far.

This remix of Stay Down is off of the Wait For Me remixes double album by Moby released last year. It’s quite the greatest remixes package and anyone into remixes should own this great lot of remixes. It rocks. There are remixes by Carl Cox, Paul Kalkbrenner, Yuksek, Gui Borrato, Laurent Wolf, Popof, Laidback Luke, Tiesto and whole bunch more. It’s certainly a killer package and this remix by Julian Jeweil is as good as the rest of the remixes. Check them out!

  12. Second Lives (Lifelike Remix) by Vitalic

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Lifelike have take the techno electro track Second Lives by Vitalic from his Flashmob album and have given it the more happy disco vibe. Still has the electro edge to it but it’s a little more groovy as disco/electro music should be. This remix by Lifelike also has a very late 70s early 80s dance sound as well. You know when disco was becoming hi nrg, italo and all. I love this remix and I think it’s my favorite from the remix package for Second Lives by Vitalic. Other remixes included in the package are The Bloody Beetroots Remix and Mustang Remix. If you are a fan of Vitalic or techno electro or any remixes then this is your single! 13. Fee Fi Fo Fum (Sharp Dub 12″) by Candy Girls Featuring Sweet Pussy Pauline

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

NU Energy! A hybrid of High Energy, Techno, Euro House perfectly blended to make a very upbeat, upfront, handbag dance club type music and the Candy Girls led the pack with their fun, quirky, naughty energetic cuts in the mid 90s. Fee Fi Fo Fum is their first big hit that featured Sweet Pussy Pauline on vox. Back in the late 80s, Sweet Pussy Pauline was known for her really naughty acid house hit “Work This Pussy’” search for that online and just take a listen if you’re curious but Sweet Pussy Pauline was guest vocals on Candy Girls as the Candy Girls were Rachel Auburn and Paul Masterson. They had three or so hits in the 90s and later disappeared. Wham Bam came after Fee Fi Fo Fum then afterwards they did a cover of I Want Candy the Bow Wow Wow classic which was not really originally a Bow Wow Wow song. The Strangelove’s did I Want Candy originally but that’s another story that we might feature on here.

Anyway check out both the original 12″ of Fee Fi Fo Fum and the Sharp Dub. Anyone remember Sharp from the 90s? Loved his remixes although they were pretty bassy with the same Nu Energy sound. Sharp are also The Sharp Boys. Big remixers from the 90s! Don’t forget to listen to Sweet Pussy Pauline’s vocals well I know you wont miss them as she will repeat the following over and over throughout the entire length of the track. Ok it’s naughty so keep the kids away.

“Boom Shaka Laka, Boom Shaka Laka, Boom Shaka Laka, Boom Shaka Laka”
“Fee Fi Fo Fum, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Look Out Drone Here It Come!”

  14. Altes Kamuffel (Berlin Calling Edit) by Paul Kalkbrenner

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

This is the track that I skip ahead to over and over again listening to the Berlin Calling Soundtrack. It’s big, fast, somewhat dreamy and very euphoric. I absolutely love it. The Berlin Calling Soundtrack is quite good but I keep coming back to this. I always visualize a dark club, lights blaring in and out and this track blasting out of the speakers. Kind of like the scene in the film Babel. The Japanese scenes in the club. Highly recommend this track and the rest of the Berlin Calling Soundtrack.

  15. Dancing Box (Sleeparchive Remix) by Modeselektor

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

This post is about one of the best remixes ever made! That is Modeselektor’s Dancing Box track remixed by Sleeparchive. The original is this glitchy techno grime dub fusion thing with vox by TTC but the remix is a complete dirty gritty euphoric cut that takes you into outer space and back. It’s the bomb and I just can’t get enough of the beats. I would enjoy this remix with a very fine soundsystem so you an enjoy all it’s sounds. The Dancing Box Sleeparchive Remix is off the Hello Mom Remixes release which also includes Silikon (Siriusmo Remix), Fake Emotion (Dabrye Remix) and Silikon (Grime Remix). These are remixes from their awesome Hello Mom album! Highly recommend the  package of awesome remixes of a very cool act as well as their album Hello Mom!

Not very familiar with Sleeparchive but I sure do like his sound! Enjoy both below …

  16. White Knight Two by Surkin

If there’s any track that takes me back to the heyday of the rave techno scene this has got to be it. This piece of music is darn amazing! Totally energetic and has that updated sound from the scene in the early 90s. I have several other tracks from Surkin but I’m still really into this one track. Surkin is Benoit Heitz. Born in the South Of France now residing in Paris. This is off of Surkin’s Next Of Kin EP.

  17. Space Warrior by Smith N Hack

Totally totally wicked track called Space Warrior that I stumbled onto after just listening to Fabriclive 41 the Simian Mobile Disco mix from a couple of years back. This track is just the wickedest, wildest recording ever. Takes me back to early 90s and then throws me back today now. I want to hear more from these guys but not much more is available. Anyone know anything about them?

  18. Beach Bump (Wildflower Mix) by Baby Ford

Twenty years ago this remix to Beach Bump got me grooving, grooving real good. I caught a listen to it just the other day in my iTunes and wow I’m surprised that it’s still sounding as fresh as it sounded back when it first came out in 1990. The original Beach Bump is off of Baby Fords “OOO” The World Of Baby Ford album which also includes a cover of Children Of The Revolution. Known as one of the guys that kick started the Acid House movement, Baby Ford is one of my all time favorite musicians. There’s a whole list of tracks of his that I still listen to over and over again including Disconoddy, Oochie Koochie, Fetish, Move On, Children Of The Revolution, Normal, Chikki Chikki Ahh Ahh and this cut Beach Bump. Check it out you’ll know what I mean by still sounding fresh today.

  19. Happy Piano by Stereofunk

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Fools Planet by Stereofunk is a fun, funky electronic dance release with loads of early 90s dance music influences. Especially the cut Happy Piano links below with the great piano samples. It’s upbeat, energetic and very fun to listen to and what a Happy Piano it is. Totally takes me back to the 90s Happy PIano cuts that were released by the countless UK dance labels. Stereofunk on the other hand is from Dresden, Germany. We can skip the UK these days for any cool dance music and turn to France, Sweden and Germany.

Really digging this cut and worth hearing it over and over again. I’m sure you’ll all agree. Check out the original (my favorite) and the remix (which sounds like early 90s rave/techno) and comment on what you think and be sure to look out for more releases by Stereofunk. I’m sure I will as I love his stuff.

  20. Strings Of Life (Instrumental Octave One Remix) by The 10th Planet

Techno classic masterpiece from the late 80s gets a jazzed up house groove. I’m there. This is a pretty darn great reinterpretation of one of the early techno classics by Rhythim is Rhythim, Derrick May’s band. Where as the original is somewhat slow this version by The 10th Planet is groovin’ fast. The 10th Planet are Derrick May and Michael James and this is the remix/remake of Strings Of Life as remixed by Octave One. Lovin’ it. Check them both out below you’ll know what I’m talking about. Lifted off of Remixed SuSu 2.

Tom Middleton does a slamming remix of Orbitals killer classic techno trance track from 1992. The original is still classic but Middleton breathes complete new life into this track. Released last year as part of Orbital’s Orbital 20 greatest hits package.

  22. Trentemoller Remixes Moby’s Classic Go

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

I’m a big fan of Trentemoller and have always been a fan of Moby’s techno classic from 1991 Go so I seriously had to check this remix out when I first heard of it. It’s pretty darn cool. Much less dreamy and more electro rocking frenetic beats but the if you listen the dreamy part surely comes.

Check out both the classic Woodtick Mix with the awesome sample of Laura’s Theme from Twin Peaks and the Trentemoller remix. You like? The remix is from Moby Go The Very Best Of Moby Remixed and it’s definitely worth owning if you are at all a fan of remixes. You must be though if you’re reading right? From 2006.

One listen to Slave from Magnum 38 and you’ll immediately think Booty Bass shaking piece of music it is. Slave is from a tribute album to Grace Jones along with several other but I found Slave to be the most approachable followed right up with Suffer. I don’t really recognize any of the tracks on the ep except for this track Slave. It’s quite repetitive but in a good way with lots of deep, heavy bass which is meant to be heard in a loud, dark club. Some of the music is sort of on the leftfield with lots of nasty attitude. Those of you Grace Jones fans might not really dig it but hey if you have an open mind you might. Check it out it will grow on you. And you’ll really hear the sounds of Berlin blasting at you as that’s where Magnum 38‘s from! Makes sense including the album artwork!

Check them out below both the original Slave to the Rhythm and Slave by Magnum 38. It’s a perfect track for DestroyRockAndRoll.com! Be sure to catch videos to both Slave To The Rhythm by Grace Jones and Und? by Magnum 38 below as well.

  24. Firestarter by The Prodigy Samples Close (To The Edit) by Art Of Noise

    Firestarted-The-Prodigy

There’s the little sample of the track Close (To The Edit) by Art Of Noise in this very loud techno rave masterpiece by The Prodigy. It’s the track that got them signed to Maverick records from the album The Fat Of The Land way back in 1997. Close (To The Edit) by The Art Of Noise is one of those smart synth pop classics from back in 1984 and it’s perfectly used here in Firestarter. Smart!

  25. Fade To Grey by Fierce Ruling Diva

This Visage remake/remix of Fade To Grey came out way back in 1994 and it still sounds pretty good. It’s a pretty good remake of the new romantics new wave classic written by Midge Ure and Steve Strange.

Check out the album Revolt Of The Perverse as it contains a really kicking track called Pissing In The Wind. And who can forget I Need Drugs! Those were the good old days of techno and rave music! The fun days. If you can find this album do buy it as it’s worth it just for Fade To Gray and you get two bonus cuts!
