    Destroy-Rock-And-Roll-Blog-Telonius-Hit-Me-Remix

I’ve always been a huge fan of Ian Dury’s disco punk hit Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and when I heard that Telonius has a version of it I was sure enough in a hurry to check it out. No surprise here it’s a great remake and the remixes are pretty darn cool too. You can always count on Gomma label from Germany and their electro techno dance music. Love them and I’ll keep listening to everything they release.

I’ve actually got the original version below as well as the remix by Bottin I’m really digging lately. I love Bottin’s very spacey synth disco style. It’s reminding me of 80s Italo Disco. Anyway what do you think of these? Do they sound like the original by Ian Dury? Please comment!

This is a vinyl promo release of the Dirty South Remix for Just Can’t Get Enough – the Depeche Mode synth pop classic that kick started their 25+ year career in the music biz. It’s a pretty darn good remix by Dirty South the Australian DJ/musician that’s known for his electro house sound. The remix keeps the original famous synth sound but it takes a while to actually hear something borrowed from the original Depeche Mode track but I still dig it. It’s very fresh and now … well from 3 years ago part of the Depeche Mode greatest hits CD that came out then with their single Martyr – their 45th single. It’s always fun to see the video to Just Can’t Get Enough as well. Check it out below.

Check both the original and the remix below.

Kind of obnoxious remix of the fun Crystal Castles track Air War remixed by Casanova. Sort of like video game music gone bad. Check them out both below. I still like the original. What do you think? The original version is off the self titled Crystal Castles album.

  4. Trentemoller Remixes Wrong by Depeche Mode

This is pretty darn cool! This Trentemoller remix is so much better than the original version (sorry DM guys) because it’s got this energy that the original downer song doesn’t. But the energy is not too upbeat that it’s aggressive or anything too fast it’s just the right amount of oomph to it that I love, love this remix. If you can’t tell I’m a darn big fan of Trentemoller so check out the Robyn remix Trentemoller did to Konichiwa Bitches here.

  5. Firestarter by The Prodigy Samples Close (To The Edit) by Art Of Noise

    Firestarted-The-Prodigy

There’s the little sample of the track Close (To The Edit) by Art Of Noise in this very loud techno rave masterpiece by The Prodigy. It’s the track that got them signed to Maverick records from the album The Fat Of The Land way back in 1997. Close (To The Edit) by The Art Of Noise is one of those smart synth pop classics from back in 1984 and it’s perfectly used here in Firestarter. Smart!

Check out the sample and see if you can tell where they are. It’s pretty obvious.

  6. Supernature (William Orbit’s Mix) by Erasure

Erasure released Supernature as a B side to their single Blue Savannah back in 1989 just after their big successful Chains Of Love song came out a couple of years prior. So this was pretty darn big. Lots of great remixes of Blue Savannah and of course this awesome remix of Supernature by William Orbit. The Cerrone disco classic was reinvented in a whole new style. This is a pretty darn great remake and I still listen to. It has slight touches of the disco sound but also has a very synth background – more in line with the 80s synth sound that Vince Clarke was known for.

This version is pretty darn long and again it’s pretty darn good. I love the Cerrone version of Supernature and I really do love this as well. Cerrone and along with Giorgio Moroder are my 2 favorite disco producers and this original is still one of my favorite Euro Disco tracks. Listen below and compare the two versions.

The video here for Supernature by Cerrone is pretty fun. A little cheesy but still fun.

  7. Tonite by M.A.N.D.Y.

The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight is one of those awesome 80s tracks that I used to listen to on Live 105 back when it was COOL! Steve Masters used to play it in his evening or lunchtime sets along with other similar track. So it’s definitely an underground classic. When I first heard Tonite by M.A.N.D.Y. I immediately fell in love with it. I knew there was a sample in it but I couldn’t figure out what it was. It reminded me of something I heard. Later I realized that it had the famous “tonight” sample from The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight sample by The Dominatrix. It’s awesome, awesome, awesome. M.A.N.D.Y. are on Get Physical label and the label has other really hip cool electro bands like Booka Shade, DJ T or Chelonis Jones. Love the music they release. Check out the two tracks and please feel free to comment.

  8. Pop Muzik (Radio Mix) by Second Sun

This is a very lively remake/cover/remix of the M new wave/synth pop classic Pop Muzik by Second Sun. Faster and energized and given the full on electronic and dance touch perfectly by Second Sun. This comes off of their Uncovered Ep. Worth it for anyone into 80s music or electronic and dance tracks. The video by M to Pop Muzik is so much fun and brings back those 80s memories. Love it!

  9. Glass Danse (Paul Oakenfold Remix) by The Faint

Here’s an awesome remix of an awesome track from The Faint! This one’s remixed by the great big DJ Paul Oakenfold.

Paul has taken the original synth/rock track and made it very club friendly so it’s perfect for big clubs for long nights of banging dance music. It’s one of my fave Oakenfold remixes.

Check it out and see what you think. It’s quite nice! Don’t you think? It’s taken from the Danse Macabre Remixes CD which is definitely worth owning if you are at all into remixes!

  10. Miss Broadway by Glass Candy

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Here’s a toned down synth remake of Paris, France’s Belle Epoque’s Miss Broadway. Miss Broadway was Belle Epoque’s second hit in the 70s and the only hit in the US. Glass Candy has remade the track and contributed to the After Dark compilation for the Italians Do It Better! label. It’s a really fun version but quite chill and mellow compared to the original by Belle Epoque.

I do enjoy Glass Candy’s music alot and their album Beat Box which also contains a cover of the Krafwerk classic Computer Love. Most of their music is pretty toned down and mellow – nothing to really get the party started. Mostly for winding down which is good.

The After Dark compilation includes a bunch of great tracks in the synth electronic style including a cover of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life which is one of my all time favorite disco songs.

So tell me what you think of the two versions. Come on feel to comment.
