  1. Me & Madonna (The Twelves Remix) by Black Strobe

At the turn of the century you can certainly feel that dance music was going into a different direction. Trance was on it’s way out and every single sub genre of dance music had come and gone and finally electro was popping up everywhere. Bands like Fischerspooner, Miss Kittin and The Hacker and Ladytron had started a new sound called electroclash. Well that lasted right? Not but the electro sound is still pretty big. This song Me & Madonna by Black Strobe was one of those dark, sleazy vocal electro cuts that still sounds quite fresh today. It could have fit perfectly on any of the International Deejay Gigolos compilations in fact I believe it was on one of the volumes. The original 2002 version has a very 80s feel to it, with New Order guitars and all. Black Strobe have moved over to Kitsune label and I think that makes perfect sense. Don’t you?

This 2010 remix by The Twelves from the Me & Madonna remixes package has been given the grooved up treatment that I’m digging quite a lot. It’s jumpy, fun and upbeat and most fun. Not sleazy, dark and mellow like the original but certainly upbeat and danceable. It’s a good remix by The Twelves. Cool thing to note about Black Strobe is that they did a really awesome remix of Something To Do for Depeche Mode about 5 years ago that I highly recommend if you haven’t heard it yet to seriously check it out here.

  2. Something Good Can Work (The Twelves Remix) by Two Door Cinema Club

Loving this track Something Good Can Work by Two Door Cinema Club lately and they really remind me of Phoenix! Don’t you think? Funny that both Phoenix and Two Door Cinema Club are on the same damn label, Glassnote. As well they have some relationship with the awesome French label Kitsune. Two Door Cinema Club are from Ireland and not from France like Phoenix.

Both the original version and the remix version are awesome. Check them out below.

Even though I’m digging the original version of In For The Kill I absolutely love this remix. The Lifelike Remix. They’ve kept all the vocals which I perfect so it’s like an extended dance remix with vocals. The original and the Lifelike Remix of In For The Kill are completely different and I first discovered La Roux by hearing the Lifelike Remix which I downloaded from Emusic from a Kitsune compilation. One of my favorite labels from France of all places release some of the best music out there. Worth checking out if you are at all into anything electro, synth pop/punk etc.

What do you think of these two versions of In For The Kille? Which one is your favorite?

We’re digging this track tons! The Day (We Fell In Love) by Appaloosa. Was in a hip hotel lounge and we heard this playing in the background and luckily had my iPhone shazam and found out the name of this piece. WOW! AMAZING. Right off of the hip hot French label Kitsune. Worth a listen for sure. There are several remixes of the track but the original and this Sis-Mix are the better of the various versions from the single.
