ABC by The Jackson 5 is a pretty fun song and this is a very fun remix of ABC by The Jackson 5 in the style of Fatboy Slim and even Pizzicato 5. This one is remixed by Konishi Yasuharu and it’s lively, energetic and groovy and I think it’s suits the song very well because it has a very 70s remix style to it. This remix is from the Soul Source – The Jackson 5 Remixes 2 CD that came out back in 2000 or 2001. 2 CD’s of Jackson Five remixes! Rare discs that you might find somewhere used or new maybe and well worth owning if you can find them and you are into remixes. The CD is a Japanese Import so might still be available some places I would snatch it up if you find it.

In the meantime check out both original and Konishi Yasuharu’s Readymade Super 524 Mix of ABC by The Jackson 5 below. Oh and also catch a live performance of The Jackson 5 on youtube!

  2. Lady Marmalade by Lords Of Acid

Hey who doesn’t love the Labelle disco funk hit Lady Marmalade? It’s a pretty darn big hit from the disco era and it’s still pretty popular today. I love this remake though from Lords Of Acid. They have made it into a sleazy industrial electrofied version. A bit cheesy at some points when the moaning comes in (ok that’s signature Lords Of Acid) but the beats are pretty darn cool still. This remake is 10 years old … wow time flies but I think it’s still got legs. It doesn’t sound too dated.

    What do you think? Lords_Of_Acid_Expand_Your_Head_Cover

Here enjoy Patti and Labelle sista’s doing Lady Marmalde. Then head below and download the two versions and compare. You’ll be blown away by the Lords Of Acid version!!

  3. Champagne by Motorfunk

I absolutely love this track. It’s from a not very well known act from the very late 90s and early this decade called Motorfunk. They might be French but I could be wrong probably from the UK.

I found this cut off of The Dirty House Session mixed CD by Groove Armada. It’s a free disc that came with my favorite magazine of the mid to late 90s called Muzik. Lot’s of great reviews and features of awesome electronic and dance music. The magazine folded around 2003 or so but this mix is one of their great mixes that came with the magazine. I have several of the mixes and I do enjoy listening to them still every once in a while.

The track Champagne is basically sampling the Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King track Love Come Down. You kind of get that because it’s called Champagne. I kind had to listen twice to figure it out at first. I just didn’t know where the track from but I put two and two together and voila it turned out to be Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King! I absolutely dig this track because Evelyn’s version is so early 80s funk dance but this version by Motorfunk is so fast and ready for todays clubs. Even though it’s several years old now it’s still sounds fresh! I can still hear it at any hopping club.

Check out the video with Evelyn singing Love Come Down. I absolutely love her hair. Don’t you think?

And a live version which I think it’s from Solid Gold?? Maybe?

    Here are the two versions:

Love Come Down (12″ Version) by Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King
    Champagne by Motorfunk

Love Come Down (12″ Version) comes from Evelyn’s Greatest Hits CD.

  4. Muhammed Ali by Faithless

I love this track. Faithless have taken a classic soul/disco track Strategy by Archie Bell and the Drells and sampled it to perfection and have made it the perfect background music to a wonderful soul/ funk track with a nice chill vibe. It’s perfection actually. And Maxi Jazz’s lyrics and signing works great here too.

I tried to find the video on youtube and I did find it but SONY/BMG had disabled embedding so we wont be seeing it here. If you feel like it check it out on youtube! But you got the great songs below! Both are great!

  5. Nasty Girl (Full Mix) by Inaya Day

Born again Christian, Vanity’s songs were sexy and risque back when they came out and most of them are pretty forgettable today but I still dig Nasty Girl as it’s a great track. This update by Inaya Day is pretty good also. It’s sped up a bit and it’s more of an electronic electro-dance track compared to the Prince produced funk/dance track of the original.

I found Inaya Day’s version of Nasty Girl on Hed Kandi’s Disco Kandi 05.04 – a great collection of discoish electronic dance club tracks. It’s one of the better collections of music anyone can buy. Do check it out.

Check them out as their quite unique on their own. What do you think of the two?
