   Not only is David Lynch one of my favorite filmmakers of all time he now is one of my favorite electronic musicians? WOW! This cut is amazing. Both the original Good Day Today and the Underworld Classic Remix are top notch full on electronic dance perfection. Underworld I’m sure you remember from the 90s as the electronic maestros they are! The original Good Day Today is the best Daft Punk track that Daft Punk did not produce! There are several remixes released with the single including a Boys Noize Remix, a Diskjokke Remix and the Underworld Classic Remix also there’s I Know the B side for Good Day Today. This is more David Lynch film soundtrack music. Similar to his collaboration with Angelo Badalamenti and Twin Peaks soundtrack material. Although this is big, dark and very bluesy so it also reminds me of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.There are also several remixes of I Know among which are a Jon Hopkins Remix, a Radcliffe ‘Hedz In Dark’ Mix, Skream’s No So Ravey Remix and a Sasha Remix. All the remixes are highly recommended so go get them from here!

   Wow I’m totally impressed with this collection and can only wait to hear more from Mr. Lynch! More soon please?

   Gosh! Witch Doktor is the classic house track that broke Armand Van Helden into the dance charts. Witch Doktor was released in 94 which became a big hit which later led him to remix some of the worlds biggest acts including one of my favorite remixes ever of Professional Widow by Tori Amos which you can find here on Destroy Rock And Roll blog. Well I’m glad that it’s finally been remixed and updated for folks to enjoy today. It’s remixed by Eddie Thoneick and it’s got a very upbeat electro house feel to it with a very energetic groove. Get on the dancefloor and groove to the beats like it’s 1994.

   Although this remix to a classic Armand Van Helden track is not as great as Funk Phenomena remixed by Starkillers it’s still highly recommended for anyone into Armand Van Helden’s music or any dance music enthusiasts. Check them both out below. The 1994 version and the 2009 version.

3. CFCF Covers Big Love by Fleetwood Mac

   I first heard of CFCF with a couple of remixes he did for Sally Shapiro. Love In July and Time To Let Me Go are remixes in the style of downtempo with very disco disco flavored electronic dance that I’ve been digging so was eager to check out the CFCF album Continent where Big Love comes from. I was surprised to hear Big Love as it’s my favorite cut from Continent. And to my surprise after listening to it several times that I kept thinking it was a cover. And sure enough it’s a Fleetwood Mac cover from the 80s.

   Big Love was a pretty big hit for Fleetwood Mac and it’s your typical dance/pop song very much in line of the 80s sounding tracks. Nothing special now but still worth checking out to compare both the CFCF version of Big Love and the Fleetwood Mac version.I have had the CFCF version of Big Love on repeat lately and it’s certainly ended up on several of my playlists that I take with me on my iPhone and iPod. It’s one of those tracks that you can listen to in the background and as well listen to while having a little get together where you want some energy in your music and not get stuck to the chill out stuff that’s typical. Big Love by CFCF is off of his album Continent and Big Love by Fleetwood Mac is off of their Tango In The Night album from 1987. Check them out below.

   Obscure electro dance club remake of the Pointer Sisters 80s dance-funk classic I’m So Excited. I’m not sure if I’m digging this or not. I like the beats the vocals are just not cutting it for me.    Taking a classic country song like I Walk The Line by Johnny Cash and sampling it into a dance song is alright in my book. So when I first heard about Walk The Line by Laurent Wolf I immediately wanted to check it out. I had thoughts that it might suck or be boring but in reality it was quite cool. The sound is energetic electro with sections of the famous line ‘I Walk The Line” sung by Johnny Cash and sampled into track. It works in my book. It’s an upbeat, energetic banging electro club cut with a little bit of country thrown in. Trust me it’s not Rednex! Check it out … what do you think?

   The remix CD called Johnny Cash Remixed came out several years ago with remixes of Johnny Cash songs but I thought it was weak. Nothing like Verve Remixed or anything similar to that. Somebody did this remix project on a shoestring budget and didn’t quite achieve top notch remixes for this as I first thought I was totally going to dig it but it’s just ok in my book. 6. The Gift (Gui Boratto’s Fallopian Mix) by Way Out West

   The Gift is a classic dance track dating back to 1996 by Way Out West. I remember RCA Records (the US label) had released the CD single to the track of which I had bought having read about it prior. I loved the track a whole lot. It was bouncy, energetic and sort of bordering on progressive drum & bass. It was fun. I’m glad Gui Boratto has given it the 2010 remix treatment to this almost 15 year old track. Those of you that don’t know about this Way Out West track then you certainly have to check it out. It’s certainly a defining moment of 90s electronica/dance.

   The Blue album which is also the self titled Way Out West album is classic. There are several excellent cuts on there that are certainly worth owning. Blue, Ajare and of course The Gift. Highly recommended!

   Good old disco songs updated? That’s my cup of tea. I love me some disco, one of my favorite genres in the dance electronic genre. I can never get enough of it! If you don’t like disco then I don’t like you! Gosh what the fuck were they thinking of when they were burning and destroying disco records in the late 70s? Americans are so sensitive to dance music! Well they must be sensitive to a lot more because the same freaks did the same thing to the Dixie Chics! Whatever!

   Anyways this song is one of my favorite disco songs. Got To Have Loving by Don Ray from the album The Garden Of Love and produced by Cerrone is a classic from the late 70s. The Sucker DJ’s have taken that classic disco tune from the late 70s and have given it the house/club treatment here and sped it up and adapted it to todays ears. It’s not a remix or is it? Are they sampling the song or not? Can’t really tell but whatever it is it’s awesome. Download now and download more from Sucker DJ’s here.

8. N-Joi Sample Gwen Guthrie’s Peanut Butter On Anthem

   “I’m In Love With You, Want You To Love Me Too” is the famous line from Peanut Butter by Gwen Guthrie which is sampled in this most famous early house track by N-Joi. Anthem came out in 1991 to blow up everywhere and I was one of the first to get addicted to that famous line sung by Gwen Guthrie. Boy I sure didn’t know at the time that it was a sample being used in that track but later when I found out about it was like I like both tracks. Gwen Guthrie’s 80s sounding funk/hi-nrg style dance sound and of course the house classic by N-Joi. Peanut Butter is off of Gwen Guthrie’s album Portrait. Anthem originally a single in 91 later on the album Inside Out by N-Joi.

Love hearing remakes of this pop/hi-nrg track from Olivia Newton John. Always willing to listen to more remakes of this song.     This is a nice track that I’ve been enjoying the last couple of months. I love the fact that Tiesto did this with Tegan And Sara. I think more and more collaborations like this should happen and more electronic/club/dance music will climb up the stupid American pop charts. The remix to Feel It In My Bones is alright. It’s been given the uplifting vocal trance treatment bordering on progressive house. I dig it and I’m glad they kept the vocals in there. What do you think?

    Ray Mang samples Gary’s Gang on his track Love Dancing. The Gary’s Gang tack Let’s Lovedance Tonight is a fun disco song from the 70s but I love what he’s done with his instrumental track Love Dancing. It’s nicely incorporated into a new disco song for now. Really cool. Ray Mang’s album Mangled Again is chock full of cool disco flavored electronic cuts.     90s classic breakthrough track for Daft Punk is remade here by Naif Theme. I’m a big fan of the original and a very defining moment for dance music so it took me several listens to this remake by Naif Theme before I got into it but it certainly works. It’s got the sound of now certainly, the more electro meets rock guitar sort of thing that’s been overdone as of late!

    Whenever there’s a remix album from a band I’m usually first in line to get it. Well I’m happy I did here as I love all the great remixes from The Phenomenal Handclap Band’s phenomenal first self titled album called simply Remixes. My favorite remix off the Remix album is Baby (Clock Opera Remix). The original is a 60s inspired soul/R&B number and the remix has been given a dreamy electro treatment. Check out both below and def check out the cool remix album. Remixes from Munk, Coco Elektrik, Fujiya and Miyagi among others for your listening pleasure. I highly recommend it owning the entire Phenomenal Handclap Band’s remixed album for all the cool remixes of their original music from their first self title album.

    This is the track that I skip ahead to over and over again listening to the Berlin Calling Soundtrack. It’s big, fast, somewhat dreamy and very euphoric. I absolutely love it. The Berlin Calling Soundtrack is quite good but I keep coming back to this. I always visualize a dark club, lights blaring in and out and this track blasting out of the speakers. Kind of like the scene in the film Babel. The Japanese scenes in the club. Highly recommend this track and the rest of the Berlin Calling Soundtrack.

    I’ve been digging the Grum sound lately. I loved this great remix Grum did for Groove Armada’s History cut and immediately had to check out what else Grum had done. The album Heartbeats by Grum is well worth owning for all the cool electro disco house cuts very reminiscent to the 80s pop dance sound.

    A David Bowie cover is always fun to check out and this version by Grum does not disappoint. It’s fun electro pop with male fronted vocals and added robotic vocoder effects for a good fun time. Enjoy both below.

    Rapture came from nowhere in 2001 to become a huge club hit for Iio and I still remember to this day how everyone was humming that ladadida part of the song. It was more on the pop end of electronic, dance and club music but I still loved it. It’s nice to know that Nadia Ali has now gone solo and released two great remix songs albums with loads of cool new remixes of songs. There is also a new remixed version of Rapture remixed by Avicii which has been given the updated treatment to accommodate todays generation! The albums are called Queen Of Clubs Trilogy: Onyx Edition and Queen Of Clubs Trilogy: Ruby Edition which I highly recommend for anyone who was a fan of Rapture (Tastes So Sweet) by Iio or anyone into dance and electronic club music.

17. DJ Sneak Samples Duran Duran’s Wild Boys On Baby Steps

    Sampling Duran Duran on Baby Steps works excellently here. The opening beats to Duran Duran’s classic 80s new wave song Wild Boys is sampled on Baby Steps by DJ Sneak a full on club house track. The samples from D2s song starts Baby Steps off then ventures into a very 90s flavored house tune with full of energy. The samples come back in during the extension of the track but basically DJ Sneak has used it to get Baby Steps off the ground.     This is a darn good remake of the awesome Faithless classic Insomnia from way back in 1997 when electronica broke somewhat big here in the states. This remake by Mike Candys & Jack Holiday takes the classic trademark Faithless sound and built upon that to make a new club track for todays generation. It’s highly recommended and since Insomnia is one of my favorite cuts of all time this I was so excited to hear.

    I’m always so eager to hear new music from Parov Stelar. I love his fusion of old swing jazz with modern day electronic dance. I absolutely love it. He is in top form here with his new EP The Paris Swing Box. Ever single track is top notch. I love Booty Swing and The Snake (with a link to download and preview below) off this ep the most but every cut is rocking. If you are at all into Electro Swing then this ep is for you.

    This is quite the fun remix of a really fun christmas song. Verve continues in the tradition of their awesome Verve Remixed series with Verve Christmas Remixed. Most of the remixes are great with this remix by The Heavy of Zat You, Santa Claus being the strongest from the set. Very fun! Enjoy both original version and remix just in time for the holidays!

    I always like an update. I don’t like it when folks complain about things being changed and screwing up with the original. Well I say screw with things as much as you can. I love it when music is remixed, movies remade, books made into movies, movies made into TV shows and so on. This remake is a good example of the Bingo Players having a good old fun time remaking the DNA featuring Suzanne Vega dance pop smash from 1990. I think Suzanne had originally released the song back in 1987 and DNA remixed it secretly and she fell in love with it and the rest was history because I think it was her biggest hit next to Luka! Anyways this is fun, poppy but keeping it in true Bingo Players progressive house style. Enjoy both below.

    Balearic classic gets covered by Balearic and chillout kings (Steve Miller from Afterlife and Chris Coco) who go by the name of The Normalites. The original by one of my fave underrated bands ever, The Beloved is truly a classic. Originally heard on their excellent classic 1989 album Happiness and later on their Blissed Out album. The track is truly to be played after a late night of partying and clubbing! This new version is definitely improved upon and it’s highly highly recommended. There are three or so versions within the release and this one is my fave as it’s been given the sexy housed up treatment. I’m loving it

    Check the original Beloved version and the Pete Gooding Remix by The Normalites below as they surely will bring back memories! 20 year anniversary! Ok perhaps 21 years a long time!

    Really digging this track Dancing In Val D’Isere 1970 by Sare Havlicek. In fact the whole album, Toscana Nights is quite amazing if you are at all into spacey disco bordering italo and the cool synth sound from the late 70s and 80s! I have not heard of Sare Havlicek prior to just purchasing his album Toscana Nights on a fluke but I’m so glad I did it because this is one of those great albums you will play over and over again. If you are at all into Bottin or the French disco band Space then this is your cup of tea! Enjoy!

25. Nick Muir Covers Chaka Khan’s Ain’t Nobody

    Well I’m really loving this cover, remake or whatever you want to call it. Nick Muir has taken the funk soul classic by Rufus and Chaka Khan and made it an all instrumental progressive house electronic cut. Anything is possible and I love it when a song from one defining genre is taken and remade into a complete other style of song. Makes for more unique listening pleasures. What do you think of this remake?

    Nick Muir goes back to the late 90s progressive house and trance sound and he is often associated with John Digweed and the Bedrock label. Once you hear Ain’t Nobody you will realize that trademark sound that’s known as the Bedrock label sound. This is highly recommended and I have not seen an official release of Ain’t Nobody but I found this on a really cool CD called Uncovered. Well worth owning for all the really cool covers and remakes of old songs! Nick Muir is also know for the track from the 90s called Rock Star by Marshall Stax. Remember that???
