  1. CFCF Covers Ryuichi Sakamoto With Forbidden Colours

Forbidden Colours is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. It was originally released back in 1983 and was a collaboration between Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Sylvian (from the band Japan) which was also part of the soundtrack to the film Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence starring David Bowie.

So CFCF has taken that most beautiful classical and electronic new age recording by Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Sylvian and elevated it for todays ears and it works darn good. I love it. CFCF aka Mike Silver actually even sings on this recording which still makes it even better. It’s a very soft spoken quiet kind of speaking that even sounds like the original. Check out both the original and the remake below.

I’ve been digging CFCF for quite sometime now. I was first introduced to his sound with some remixes he did for Sallly Shapiro later found his albums and fell in love with Big Love the Fleetwood Mac cover (which is awesome) and later I came across this recording which I love. I

I can’t wait to hear more from CFCF and I can only hope that he’s working on some more excellent cuts like what he’s released so far!

I love The Girl and The Robot by Royksopp in it’s original form not remixed and I love the fact that Royksopp used Robyn on vocals I think the combo was perfect. The song has a huge remix package but gosh I hate to say and I will say all of the remixes SUCK! Except this a classical orchestral interpretation of the original The Girl And The Robot. I can’t figure out why I don’t like any of the remixes but I know I love the original and it’s so good maybe the remixes just don’t come close to the original or perfect on the original. Oh well, not all remixes are good. This interpretation I do like because it’s so out there from the original. Check it out and let me know what you think.

  3. Clair de Lune by Sebastien Tellier

This is a pretty good reinterpretation of the the classical masterpiece by the French impressionist composer, Debussy. One of my favorite composers so it’s always nice to hear remakes of Debussy’s music. 10 years ago The Art Of Noise released an album called The Seduction Of Claude Debussy which was actually pretty good. So if you haven’t heard of it check it out especially if you are either a fan of Debussy or The Art Of Noise.

This version comes from the Rouge Remixed album and it’s available for download from eMusic. Click the eMusic link above and search for Rouge Remixed.
