So Phat! Cover Sheila E. With A Love Bizarre

I love buying compilations because with compilations you always discover unique tracks that never get heard anywhere, tracks that are remakes that just get discovered so I love the compilations a lot because it’s one of the best ways to discover new music. Such is the case with this remake of an 80s classic track A Love Bizarre by So Phat! I discovered this cover on Erotic Lounge 2 pictured below. It’s one of those Hotel Costes, Buddha Bar type compilations broken down to 2 discs one being the slower mellower disc the other being the more upbeat collection. They contain a great collection of tracks and this Sheila E. cover is certainly the discovery in this disc. The original was released 6 years ago in 2004 but I just recently got this collection and it’s certainly a good discovery. Check out both the Sheila E. version which has some vocals by Prince and the new So Phat! version of A Love Bizarre.

Listening to Ida Corr’s Under The Sun in it’s original form makes you think that you are listening to pretty acomplished R&B singer. Then you have this great big remix package for Under The Sun and the remixes range in all styles including full on club bangers and my favorite the Ibizarre Remix which has been given the haunting beats perfect for late night chilling. Gone is the rap from Shaggy that’s present in the original version which I think was a good decision. To me it just doesn’t make sense to include the rap but oh well it’s there in the original version we’ll deal with but it’s all about the remix here and I listen to it over and over again. It’s that good!

I love this remix of the classic Tears For Fears track Mad World. The original is always a classic in my book but I absolutely love it when they fuck with the original. It gives the song new life. The chillout acoustic electronic godess January gets the remix club treatment on her single Careful What You Tell The Sky. The original song is a mellow laidback emotional cinematic masterpiece but The Random Access Man Remix is going to lead you into the club to get down to. I love Ocean Beach by Black Might Orchestra. It’s a cover of the late great Henry Mancini’s Lujon track. Lujon is actually one of my favorite tracks from Henry Mancini … it’s a beautiful and sexy downtempo jazzy cinematic masterpiece and Black Mighty Orchestra have taken parts from Lujon and sampled it to an electronic chillout hit. You’ve probably heard Ocean Beach on countless chillout compilations and it’s still great to have as background music for a dinner party or to relax to at home.

This is awesome … Kinobe have sampled From Here To Eternity by Engelbert Humperdink in their very popular appropriately titiled chillout track Slip Into Something More Comfortable. I love the sample very much here and it works 1000%! The Engelbert Humperdink track From Here To Eternity is basically the main parf of the track with some additional bass added here and there and some vocals.

I love this remix of This Sweet Love by James Yuill. The remix is by Prins Thomas by there’s not much difference so it’s only a slight bit of a change here and I totally dig it. Very mellow and chill. I love the song so it was great to finally track down these remixes as there’s several or so by different remixers but this Prins Thomas remix takes the cake since this song does not really need the extreme remix treatment. The vocals are too mellow and cute to get the big beat treatment. You think?

The Windmills Of Your Mind by Orange Factory

I just love this remake of the classic Noel Harrison track from the film The Thomas Crown Affair. This is a nice midtempo piece by Orange Factory a downtempo chillout act. They are not very well known as I can’t find much information about them but they are from the Irma Music label in Bologna Italy. One of my favorite labels and this remake is pretty darn good. It’s all instrumental just like it should be. Nice background music you can chill too. Although I love the Dusty Springfield version which I have below for you all to compare to. What do you think? In the film The Thomas Crown Affair (the original version with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway) was an instrumental piece. Later Dusty Springfield had sung it which became a pretty nice hit for her.

The Windmills Of Your Mind was written by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman and Michel LeGrand with the French title being Les moulins de mon cœur.

BTW Sting did a cover version of The Windmills Of Your Mind for the 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.

I love this track. Faithless have taken a classic soul/disco track Strategy by Archie Bell and the Drells and sampled it to perfection and have made it the perfect background music to a wonderful soul/ funk track with a nice chill vibe. It’s perfection actually. And Maxi Jazz’s lyrics and signing works great here too.

I tried to find the video on youtube and I did find it but SONY/BMG had disabled embedding so we wont be seeing it here. If you feel like it check it out on youtube! But you got the great songs below! Both are great!
