  1. Italian Secret Service Cover Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit

I think every song should be remixed, remade, sampled even such a classic song like Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. I love the idea of taking a song that’s recognized in a genre and switching it on everyone and rerecording it in a complete different style. And here it’s done quite well by Italian Secret Service from Irma Records out of Italy. This remake takes me back to the early 60s, innocent jazzy easy listening music. It’s fun and this really works just grab yourself a mai tai and enjoy.

You should be the judge and listen to both versions below. And if you like Italian Secret Services style then download the rest of their album from Amazon by clicking on the album artwork below.

This is an awesome downtempo groove version of the Donald Byrd jazz classic Think Twice by Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band. Whereas the Donald Byrd version is quite 70s smooth and funky sounding the Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren band version is quite cool and laidback and has the after the clubbing vibe to it. It features the vocals of Christine Sandtorv. Check them both out below.

The Ralph Myerz version is off of A Special Album which came out in 2003. The Donald Byrd version is off of his Stepping Into Tomorrow album.

This is pretty darn cool … very fun animated video as well. Cee-lo did a pretty darn nice job remixing Lush Life by Nat King Cole. Worth owning for sure.

  4. The Tango I Saved for You (from the film Gaily, Gaily) (Zeb’s The Tango I Stole From You Remix) by Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra/Henry Mancini

This is such a beautiful piece of music as I love both the original by Henri Mancini and the remix by Zeb. It’s from a film that I have not seen called Gaily, Gaily but anything with Henry Mancini’s music is worth at least checking out. Well the music that is.

Zeb has added the jazzy downtempo touch to the original and spiced it up a little but still the original can be heard in the new remix.

This remix is off of the album Cinematic: Classic Film Music Remixed – and contains awesome chill, jazzy, moody downtempo cuts. I love the whole disc. The oddest cut off the disc is an updated remix of a track from the Carrie soundtrack. Boy that sure is creepy! But the disc is definitely worth owning for the rest of the cuts for sure.

What do you think of the two versions?
