This is an excellent remake of the classic new wave/new age electronic synth track by Jan Hammer. The original was on the Miami Vice soundtrack which I was somewhat a fan of – the soundtrack, both 1 and 2 were pretty good. Volume 2 even had a track by The Damned of all bands.
This version is pulled off of the Crockett’s Theme/Ocean Drive single by FPU which also contains a great Tiga vocal Ocean Drive but this version. This version is quite nicely updated. It has a nice electronic beat and it’s the same music but the synth sound of the 1980′s is not here any longer. This new version by FPU sounds just like something that would come out today. Even though this version is several years old it still works here and still sounds quite fresh.
I’m glad that this remake was done as I’ve always loved Crockett’s Theme but it sounded so 80′s once it got a couple of years old so this remake has made it much more now. I kind of dread the bad 80′s guitar touch in the original 80′s Jan Hammer version.
