I’m really digging this remix of Lollipop The Chordettes song from the late 50s. It’s been given the extra bassy treatment but it’s really short like the original song itself. The original song I’m sure you’ve heard countless times is a cute innocent late 50s pop hit but this ones got a bit of gritty inner city feel to it even including a recognizable beat from Tone Loc’s Wild Thing. I’m sure you’ll recognize it once you hear it. I love it. Found this recently on the Whip It (film) soundtrack and wasn’t even aware that a remix has been done to this song and I’m happy to have discovered it.
I like Peaches but something about her turns me off a bit. Her music is hit and miss at times. I really like some of it and the rest is just ok to me. But I really do love this song and remix of Lose You that DJ Hell did for Peaches though. The remix was released late last year but I only just heard it from the awesome International DJ Gigolos CD 12 that came out a couple of months back. The song in it’s original form is already a moody electro recording but DJ Hell has given it the dreamy midtempo beats for the clubs. I love both and can listen to them at different times. What do you think?
Cutting edge alternative band records song. They release album. They hire an awesome remix team and hand over their masters of one of their songs to a remix team. The remix team crafts a masterpiece remix of the cutting edge alternative bands song. The remix turns out 1000% better than the original. This story has been told countless times and I’ll say it again. Well I already did! That is the case with Heads Will Roll by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! The original Heads Will Roll is just ok. Sounds very flat sorry I hate flat music. I love my highs and lows. But this remix of Heads Will Roll by A-Trak is just so damn good. I love it. So enjoy below and after previewing both you’ll feel the same as I do! I’ve now become a fan of Yeah Yeah Yeahs because of remix from remix team. That’s what it takes!
I’ve never been much of a fan of Luther Vandross but when I heard this remix to Never Too Much with the bouncy disco style I quickly fell in love with it. I remember the original when it came out in the very early 80s it was one of those songs similar to other that were released from that same era. The same song was remixed and rereleased in 1989 but never reached any charts here in the states. Now that we have this awesome remix by ODahl I have rediscovered how good this song is. The original and the very spacey dancey robo-quirky remix by Odahl. Highly recommended. Released in 2009 20 years after the first remix in 1989. Enjoy.
I’ve really been digging Edwin Van Cleef’s sound and I was happy to have heard of this remix to the Bat For Lashes hit song Daniel. Not a real big fan of Bat For Lashes mysefl … I could take it or leave it really but this remix does wonders to the song and I’m really happy to hear remixes of songs that I don’t really like remixed and made to sound better. It makes me love some songs even more. And this one I love, the remix that is. What do you think of the two? Which is better than the other?
If you enjoy Edwin Van Cleef check out his awesome track Overtaken (FM Attack Remix) here.

Being the big fan of electro swing I quickly fell in love with this version of Rum And Coca-Cola originally recorded by The Andrews Sisters. This version by Tim Tim gives the song the island, Jamaican reggaefied party vibe feel along with the ragga rapping and cute girl vocals and incorporated with the awesome sample from the original Andrews Sisters song. Very bouncy and will get your party shaking. I highly recommend this version as I love it and I’m sure you will too.
Check out both the original by the Andrews Sisters and Tim Tim versions below.
I love it when they take an old rock classic song and fuck it up. Well in this case it’s not really fucked up I think it’s perfected upon. Remixed to death. I love it and I love this remix. The whole package of 5 different remixes are awesome. Perfect for todays dancefloor or to blast from your speakers speeding down the highway. Or whatever will get you off. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts deserve the remix treatment and Alex Gaudino and Jason Rooney have done an wicked remake and sampling job with the original vocals from Joan Jett. At least it sounds like the original vox. You think? Now after hearing this which came out last year I want to hear more classics remixed. Let’s remix everything shall we?
Listening to Ida Corr’s Under The Sun in it’s original form makes you think that you are listening to pretty acomplished R&B singer. Then you have this great big remix package for Under The Sun and the remixes range in all styles including full on club bangers and my favorite the Ibizarre Remix which has been given the haunting beats perfect for late night chilling. Gone is the rap from Shaggy that’s present in the original version which I think was a good decision. To me it just doesn’t make sense to include the rap but oh well it’s there in the original version we’ll deal with but it’s all about the remix here and I listen to it over and over again. It’s that good!
I think every song should be remixed, remade, sampled even such a classic song like Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. I love the idea of taking a song that’s recognized in a genre and switching it on everyone and rerecording it in a complete different style. And here it’s done quite well by Italian Secret Service from Irma Records out of Italy. This remake takes me back to the early 60s, innocent jazzy easy listening music. It’s fun and this really works just grab yourself a mai tai and enjoy.
You should be the judge and listen to both versions below. And if you like Italian Secret Services style then download the rest of their album from Amazon by clicking on the album artwork below.
Edwin Van Cleef’s Overtaken the FM Attack Remix is Space Disco at it’s best. Whereas the original has somewhat of an indie pop track feel to it the FM Attack remix is just a complete groove machine. Check it out … it will get you shaking your booty!!! If you like what you hear please support the artist and buy the entire remix package by clicking the album artwork below.
Fools Planet by Stereofunk is a fun, funky electronic dance release with loads of early 90s dance music influences. Especially the cut Happy Piano links below with the great piano samples. It’s upbeat, energetic and very fun to listen to and what a Happy Piano it is. Totally takes me back to the 90s Happy PIano cuts that were released by the countless UK dance labels. Stereofunk on the other hand is from Dresden, Germany. We can skip the UK these days for any cool dance music and turn to France, Sweden and Germany.
Really digging this cut and worth hearing it over and over again. I’m sure you’ll all agree. Check out the original (my favorite) and the remix (which sounds like early 90s rave/techno) and comment on what you think and be sure to look out for more releases by Stereofunk. I’m sure I will as I love his stuff.
Hooj Choons was one of my favorite labels coming out of the UK in the early 90s. With hit after hit of dancefloor cuts I was hooked with their Nu NRG sound that they had penned. Some of the acts on the label that I liked were JX, Tin Tin Out, Sister Bliss, Hyper Go Go, Escrima, Hyperlogic and many more.
This track Hypnotized (Bottin’s Mercurial Mix) by Oscar G & Stryke comes off the Some Of These Were Hooj Volume 4 and it’s the standout cut from a very cool, cool compilation. The compilation includes many acts you’ll probably remember if you were tuned into the dance scene that came out of the UK in 90s. Complete tracklist below and a free preview of Hypnotized (Bottin’s Mercurial Mix) by Oscar G & Stryke. And for you 80s fanatics there’s a remix of Human League’s The Things That Dreams Are Made Of.
01. Pete Lazonby – Sacred Cycles (Dave Spoon Mix) (6:50)
02. The Human League – The Things That Dreams Are Made Of (Kissy Sell Out Mix) (5:25)

This track came out last year but I’m now rediscovering it again. It’s got so much frenetic funky house energy that it could catch a dancefloor on fire. Check it out it’s jackin’! Taken from the Fake Blood Fix Your Accent EP.
Here’s a pretty darn cool remake of one of my favorite songs from the late 80s! I used to hear this on Live 105 all the time when it became a hit and was a fan of Peter Schilling’s album A Different Story so I was happy to have heard that there was a darn cool remake for this song. Cool of a remake to make it into a Lincoln commercial. Well Lincoln I don’t really care about but the Shiny Toy Guns version is certainly bringing back memories of the late 80s. What do you think of the two versions?
Prior to this song I hadn’t heard of Shiny Toy Guns much in fact not at all but because of this I had to go download their album Girls Le Disko. It’s certainly worth owning! Good enough is a live German version of the Peter Schilling song below.
Impressive US House track by Dennis Ferrer really didn’t need the remix treatment as the original is awesome as it is. I first heard of Sinfonia Della Notte by Dennis Ferrer off of the House Masters: Dennis Ferrer album last year and immediately fell in love with it. When I heard about this remix I was hastily interested in checking it out but unfortunately it fell flat compared to the original. I love John Dahlback’s music hands down but this remix he did is quite weak. Check it out what do you think?
Tom Middleton does a slamming remix of Orbitals killer classic techno trance track from 1992. The original is still classic but Middleton breathes complete new life into this track. Released last year as part of Orbital’s Orbital 20 greatest hits package.
I love The Girl and The Robot by Royksopp in it’s original form not remixed and I love the fact that Royksopp used Robyn on vocals I think the combo was perfect. The song has a huge remix package but gosh I hate to say and I will say all of the remixes SUCK! Except this a classical orchestral interpretation of the original The Girl And The Robot. I can’t figure out why I don’t like any of the remixes but I know I love the original and it’s so good maybe the remixes just don’t come close to the original or perfect on the original. Oh well, not all remixes are good. This interpretation I do like because it’s so out there from the original. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Fun French version of Ladyhaweke’s Paris Is Burning. I love the original version of this song and really love the Cut Copy remix but here’s a fun version of Paris Is Burning sung in French by Ladyhawke. What do you think? Actually Phillipa “Pip” Brown does a pretty darn good version in French!
Loving this new remix, Mercury Remix the Munk track No Milk that features Asia Argento. The original is somewhat a lo-fi electro mellow cut which is not my cup of tea but this remix rocks! The song is fun because Asia complains about what she likes and hates. The remix has less of the vocals with bits here and there thrown in. Check them out below.
Ok this remix is actually really fun. I’m No Alone is a pretty cool track from Calvin Harri’s Ready For The Weekend album but the remix adds whole other beat layer to the track. It kind of reminds me of Chromeo as well. Very similar style. What do you think of the two versions?
One listen to Slave from Magnum 38 and you’ll immediately think Booty Bass shaking piece of music it is. Slave is from a tribute album to Grace Jones along with several other but I found Slave to be the most approachable followed right up with Suffer. I don’t really recognize any of the tracks on the ep except for this track Slave. It’s quite repetitive but in a good way with lots of deep, heavy bass which is meant to be heard in a loud, dark club. Some of the music is sort of on the leftfield with lots of nasty attitude. Those of you Grace Jones fans might not really dig it but hey if you have an open mind you might. Check it out it will grow on you. And you’ll really hear the sounds of Berlin blasting at you as that’s where Magnum 38’s from! Makes sense including the album artwork!
Check them out below both the original Slave to the Rhythm and Slave by Magnum 38. It’s a perfect track for DestroyRockAndRoll.com! Be sure to catch videos to both Slave To The Rhythm by Grace Jones and Und? by Magnum 38 below as well.
Even though I’m digging the original version of In For The Kill I absolutely love this remix. The Lifelike Remix. They’ve kept all the vocals which I perfect so it’s like an extended dance remix with vocals. The original and the Lifelike Remix of In For The Kill are completely different and I first discovered La Roux by hearing the Lifelike Remix which I downloaded from Emusic from a Kitsune compilation. One of my favorite labels from France of all places release some of the best music out there. Worth checking out if you are at all into anything electro, synth pop/punk etc.
What do you think of these two versions of In For The Kille? Which one is your favorite?
Ok looking at these pictures of Miike Snow I think gosh they looked pretty freaking weird but one listen to their song Black And Blue make you wonder is it the same guys? Well either way I’ve gotten past their looks and gone straight to their music and this remix of Black And Blue by Tiga is pretty darn cool. More electro synthy rather than pop electro like the original is. What do you think? You like. Worth a download and listen for sure. Oh and the video is worth checkign out too!
Kurtis Blow remixed in sexy downtempo style here by Dublex and it’s certainly a good remix. I love the original 80s hip hop track The Breaks by Kurtis Blow but this remix by Dublex can be played in a chill out set or as background music for a cocktail party. This is off of two remix digital singles and both sets are worth owning for those of you that like remixes. Remixers include De-Phazz, Timewriter and of course Dublex Inc. The remixes sets also include a millennium remix which is just an updated recording of the original. Check them all out at Amazon links below … well worth owning the entire set.
Here’s a synthy trademark Chromeo sounding mellow cover of the Eagles 70s soft rock/easy listening track I Can’t Tell You Why. Listening to the original gives me goosebumps as I have a love/hate relationship with this track. A good and bad time in my life. But the remake by Chromeo is quite fun and slightly quirky as they are known for producing. Check them out below. This cover is released as part of the DJ Kicks mix CD. It’s perfectly placed in the mix. The disc also contains some flashback 80s tracks by France Joli, Kano, Donna Allen and Leo Sayer. A great mix for anyone into synth dance pop with an 80s sound. Check out the fun promo film as well. It’s shot in the streets of Paris. You know what now that I think about this Chromeo cover at first listen it sounds like an 80s Hall & Oates track. Hmm?
Don’t you just love remixes, remakes covers? Don’t you love it when a musician samples a famous recording and incorporate it into theirs? I love it … I absolutely love taking old recordings and making something completely new to with them. Who needs it to sound like everything else that’s blasting out of the radio [...]more →
