This is a vinyl promo release of the Dirty South Remix for Just Can’t Get Enough – the Depeche Mode synth pop classic that kick started their 25+ year career in the music biz. It’s a pretty darn good remix by Dirty South the Australian DJ/musician that’s known for his electro house sound. The remix keeps the original famous synth sound but it takes a while to actually hear something borrowed from the original Depeche Mode track but I still dig it. It’s very fresh and now … well from 3 years ago part of the Depeche Mode greatest hits CD that came out then with their single Martyr – their 45th single. It’s always fun to see the video to Just Can’t Get Enough as well. Check it out below.
Hey taking a classic 80s song like Change by Tears For Fears and sampling the most prominent part into a dance track is awesome thing to do. Check this track Always by David Guetta from his Pop Life album. I think Guetta has taken that wonderful sound from the Tears For Fears song and sampled it perfectly in his song Always. Worth owning for sure. Compare both below.
Pop Life also contains This Is Not A Love Song the Public Image Limited cover as well as hits Love Don’t Let Me Go the remix with The Egg. Worth owning!
This is a pretty darn good track from Bob Sinclar off of his Western Dream album which is really fun very pop friendly which is what this track is. Rock This Party samples Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C+C Music Factory. I always thought C+C Music Factory was the mass produced and marketed Black Box so I was never really into their music as I was into Black Box but this sample of Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) is sampled perfectly in this song. Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) is off of C+C Music Factory’s Gonna Make You Sweat album. Check out both versions out below … and comment.
I love this … [Re: Jazz] have taken the Lisa Stansfield dance pop smash and made it into a jazzing vocal track and I think it works perfectly. Don’t you think? Check the two versions out and write a comment. The [Re: Jazz] version is much more mellower and of course perfect played by [Re: Jazz]. I can just picture it performed in an intimate jazz club whereas the version by Lisa Stansfield is perfect in a nightclub or heard from a radio station. I love them both.
Also the original Lisa Stansfield version is produced by Coldcut!! Nice one.
Hey I love this track Watch My Mouth by Cazwell. They’ve taken Taana Gardner’s Hearbeat and sampled perfectly in this Cazwell track. I think it works quite well. Even though the original Taana Gardner version is very downtempo I like the way in the Cawell track it’s sped up just the right amount. Check the two out see what I mean. Links below.
The Taana Gardner original is now a disco classic that I listen to still. I discovered it late. It’s not hit that it could have been like you know the typical disco hits that everyone listens to by Gloria Gaynor, Chic and Village People. This Taana Garnder Heartbeat track is more underground and was released by the legendary the indie label West End Records. It’s a classic masterpiece!
Wow? What can I say about this remake? I loved the original back by Gusto in the mid to late 90s. It was one of those house/club tracks that you’d find in the countless double mix CD’s available for sale. It was the kind of track that would really get you more into the groove of things as it would be perfect in a mix. It was that kind of a track. Nothing too big but still great and a semi hit. Well what Maxence has done is completely remade the track with a piano. His piano playing is amazing and I found this version on MEZZANINE de L’ALCAZAR volume 5 – Dinner Time by Rouge Rouge mix CD and I was like WOW! What have they done? It’s awesome!
This remake comes off of his Modern Rhapsodies CD which also has versions of Behind The Wheel by Depeche Mode, Go by Moby, Don’t You Want Me by Felix, Windowlicker by Aphex Twin and more! Imagine all of your favorite electronic and dance tracks with piano? WOW pretty cool.
Check out both versions of Disco’s Revenge and comment on what you think of the two versions.
Depeche Mode again? Yes! I think the best covers and remixes are of Depeche Mode songs. One of my all time favorite bands and I love it when they remix their own tracks and allow for others to cover or remake them. This one’s a really nice one! It’s by John Lord Fonda from France. It’s been given the energized dark and sleazy electro industrial touch to it with elements of the original version from Depeche Mode. Including the heavy breathing sounds and the “Reach Out And Touch Faith” lyrics.
Prior to discovering this remake I had never heard of John Lord Fonda? Do you folks know of this guy? His album DeBaser 2 which is the accompanying album to DeBaser. Both are great and worth owning if you want new music to discover and check out. If you’re at all into Vitalic (one of my favorites), The Hacker (another of my favorites) do check out John Lord Fonda as I think you’ll dig his music.
Here’s a great awesome remix of a pretty darn good song by Cassius. Cassius has been around since the mid 90s but only released just a small handful of albums. This one came out of nowhere and got me really good. I dig it quite alot and it’s been on my iPod since late 2006.
It’s definitely a great song to dance to and I can just hear it in the clubs but it’ best while you are driving the streets of the big city.
What do you think of the two different versions? The original definitely utilizes the guitars but the remix is quite hot right? It’s so hot that Madonna used it as a remix to Get Into The Groove. It was a fresh change to the awesome Get Into The Groove. There’s a download link here to the Madonna version.
I’m a BIG Prince fan but only pre Batman … anything after is just crap. Erotic City was one of Prince’s cult B sides that made to radio. It was the B side to Let’s Go Crazy and came out back in 1984 off of the Purple Rain soundtrac. It was an underground hit and I have to say that this version of Erotic City by Supafly featuring the great vocals of Deni Hines comes really close to the original. The cool thing about this version is it does not contain the stupid chipmunk voice that Prince has on the original. Not sure why that’s there in the original but I suppose Prince thought it was a good idea at the time to include it as part of the song. I think maybe he thought that since the subject matter of Erotic City was so risque that he thought he’d add the cute cartoony voices. Oh well it worked back then but it’s a little tired now.
But the Supafly version is a nice update. What do you think? I think Prince covers are good and some bad but this remake is quite nice and definitely worth multiple listens! Don’t you think?
Let me know.
I found this version of Erotic City off of the absolutely fabulous Nu Cool series (Nu Cool 55) from Hed Kandi. Love their releases and this one is pretty cool.
Check this out … Scream Club haven taken the classic new wave synth pop track Smalltown Boy by Bronksi Beat and sampled it as the background of their electro, hip hop rap dance tracks Life Of A Heartbreaker. The indie band
It actually works quite nicely here. The chick rapping is fast enough and it’s a great touch for the sped up fast paced casio synth sounding Bronski Beat sample. You think?
The rest of the album is lesbian themed electro rap which also includes guest vocals by Peaches among others but Life Of A Heartbreaker (Featuring Electrosexual) is the stand out cut for me as it contains one of my favorite synth pop tracks from the 80s.
I love Diga Diga Doo by The Mills Brothers in it’s original form but when I heard it on G-Swing’s Swing For Modern Clubbers CD I couldn’t get quite enough of it. It’s been beefed up and sped up quite nicely and it’s perfect for any club that wants to throw in some swing style dance beats in their mix. It’s also perfect for listening to while in a car or on your iPod at home. The vocals are still the same as this is just a remix but the credits on the Swing For Modern Clubbers CD says DJ Brame. I don’t know much about DJ Brame but this remake is quite nice.
The rest of the Swing For Modern Clubbers CD is quite nice too. There are some really great cuts on the disc including a vocal track by Rossy Depalma. Check out the tracklist below. There are remixes by Lindstrom on the disc as well.
Here’s the track list for the entire disc.
1. Sing Sing Sing
2. Ring Dem Bells
3. Busy Line
4. I’m Crazy ‘Bout My Baby
5. Don’t Be That Way
6. Calor
7. Run Joe
8. Diga Diga Doo
9. Goin’ Nuts
10. Figs And Dates
11. Twenty Long Years
12. Promised Land
13. Caravan
14. Heartbreaker
If you question why old time music should be remixed I say because it’s a great art and we should do more of it. I love albums like this and more and more remixes should be done of well known tracks from yesteryear. Let’s remix everything, right?
Check the two version of Diga Diga Doo and let me know what you think. Also check out the promo video for the Swing For Modern Clubbers album.
This is a really nice remake of the Adam And The Ants classic track from the 80s – Ant Music. It’s been energized and sounds nice and upbeat and has a fierce punk attitude by Hyper. Of course the original is a classic track and reached #2 on the UK charts when it first came out but this version by Hyper is all underground and not getting close to the pop charts – which is the way it’s got to be.
Shouldn’t it?
Check it out, listen, enjoy and comment about this remake!
I love love love Never Let Me Down Again from Depeche Mode. Music For The Masses is a masterpiece and this comes off of it. Well the original that is. I also love Digitalism. I think dance punk is a good classification for the type of music they release. I do love Idealism – their first release as there’s some strong cuts on it. Including tracks like Idealistic and Pogo. I think both tracks get you groovin and dancing all over the place.
So here Digitalism have taken the masterpiece track Never Let Me Down Again and remixed the hell out of it. I mean it’s hard and intense and rocking. Don’t you think? I love it. It gets you groovin and moving. Check it out and let me know what you think as I think you will love it.
I really do enjoy Depeche Mode and the fact that they keep remixing their old songs. That’s awesome as I love revisiting their old stuff in an new light. Don’t you?
I love this mash up of Horny by Mousse T Featuring the vocals of Hot ‘N’ Juicy and The Dandy Warhols Bohemian Like You. I like the original but it’s a little too housy and of course it sounds a bit dated for today but this recent mash up sounds quite nice and more ‘now’. You think? Tell me what your thoughts are on these two versions. I think you will go with the more recent version but you never know some of you may prefer the house sounds of the 90s over the rock, new wave electro sounds of the last couple of years. I like both but really into the new mash up.
Don’t you just love remixes, remakes covers? Don’t you love it when a musician samples a famous recording and incorporate it into theirs? I love it … I absolutely love taking old recordings and making something completely new to with them. Who needs it to sound like everything else that’s blasting out of the radio [...]more →
