I love me some remakes and this one is awesome. It’s the classic downtempo/swing jazz classic by Mr. Scruff remade by the very cool and groovy The Quantic Soul Orchestra. I love it! It’s lively, danceable and has a very retro organ sound to it. Very similar to their sound which I truly love so this version rocks! Check them both out below at the link. This remake of Get A Move On by The Quantic Soul Orchestra is off of the Tru Thoughts Covers album that’s come out a couple of months back. If you like covers, remakes or remixes then this album is definitely worth it! It’s also on The Quantic Soul Orchestra album Pushin On.

BTW The Quantic Soul Orchestra or Quantic is mostly Will Holland.

This remix to the very dark Let No Man Jack by DJ Hell is pretty darn cool. It’s slow, very bassy and hard. Almost to the point of a dark sleazy industrial cut from the electro godfather of International Deejay Gigolos record label owner. DJ Hell’s new album Teufelswerk has been out for quite a while now but it’s still has not grown on me. So wanted to go back in time and pull a cut from his last album NY Muscle which is a pretty darn cool album if you haven’t heard it yet. Check out both versions of Let No Man Jack below.

This song takes me back to the late 80!

Pump Up The Jam the original version which came out in 1998 was a early Belgian house club classic that actually played on the radio. It became a worldwide smash hit going all the way to the top of the pop charts. This new version a remix by D.O.N.S. which is actually several years old now is a fresh take on the original hit by Technotronic. It’s got a more modern beat to it and it’s more in line with the sound of the clubs now. I like it but there’s something about the original that still takes me back to the days of acid house, new beat and an awesome era in club music. Both worth owning. Check them out below.

The original Pump Up The Jam is off of the Technotronic album of the same name.

Girl And The Sea by the Presets from their Beams albums is such a mellow beautiful midtempo vocal track compared to the rest of the tracks on the Beam album. It’s one of those tracks that totally stands out from everything else and it’s the track you keep listening to. So when a remix comes along like this remix by Cut Copy it doesn’t really compare unfortunately. It’s a pretty darn good remix but if I had to choose between both versions I’d pick the original. What do you think?

The remix is from The Presets Re-Sets album which is worth owning. Their are remixes by some awesome names like ascii.disko, Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism and The Juan Maclean. So I highly recommend both the album Beams and Re-Sets for any electro, synth pop/dance lover. Listen to the tracks takes me back to when I was 15 years old in 1986! What a fun time!

Louie Vega does a great cover of the disco classic Thousand Finger Man by Candido. Love this very Latin inspired track as was the original by Candido. This track comes right off the Elements Of Life “Extensions’ CD which I highly recommend for a bunch of other awesome tracks by Louie Vega all remixed. Sexy Latin inspired house music. This Thousand Fingered Man and along with the Mon Amour (DJ Gregory Remix)are the winners on the release. Pretty darn cool.

After four years I still dig this track. From the legendary label Ghostly International this is a great electro/synth pop track and the remix by Alter Ego rocks. Alter Ego in top form here and this the original and the remix are certainly worth owning and worth having in any collection.

I found this remix on a compilation called Stonewall which is a pretty generic mix of music pop dance music that was not excellent but did the job of serving up tasty pop, dance, remix club hits.

But the single is available if you can find it somewhere. I’m looking myself since the version of this track I have below at the link is taken from (obviously) a mix CD so it’s not the entire track but you’ll still get the idea. Check it out and compare it to the original.

He’s worked with folks like Sharon Jones and Ursula Rucker. This track comes off of his first full album Tales From The Forgotten Melodies. Check it out as it’s a great release. I love taking a punk rock song and remixing the hell out of it and make it a fucking cool awesome dance club song. Such is the example of this track by The Gossip. Playgroup who back in 2002 released a really awesome self titled album of electro funky dance pop. It’s a great album and worth checking out if you haven’t. I have the double CD version pictured below which you should def. own that has lots of great remixes.

Playgroup actually did major wonders to this track – he (Trevor Jackson) has added a very early 90’s sound to the remix and It’s rocking. Well in a remix way. Check it out and let me know what you think? You like? Let me know
