Jaydee’s Plastic Dreams is an early 90s tribal trance classic. IT came out with a bang in 1992 and was around for quite sometime. It was one of those early trance tracks that you just couldn’t get enough of. You know Stella by Jam And Spoon, The Age Of Love by The Age Of Love and Plastic Dreams by Jaydee! Before For An Angel by Paul Van Dyk came onto the scene and brought trance to the masses. Then later on in the 90s and the 2000s countless new remixes were commissioned so to this day Plastic Dreams is one of those rare electronic and dance tracks that will never be forgotten about and will continue to receive the remix treatment. The original 1992 version still is classic for me as it has that repetitive ongoing euphoric tribal groove that just wont stop. It’s perfect on extacy. LOL I’m not recommending that you go and dance to this track while you take some E but sure was fun back in the day.

Anyway fast forward to 2011 and new remixes have been released and they are pretty darn good while keeping the spirit of the original Plastic Dreams by Jaydee. But guess what there were remixes of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee released in 2004 as well that are worth noting.

One of my favorite remixes of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee is the Plastic Dreams (Andrea Doria “Is It Breaks?” Remix) as that thing kicks like a mule. Oh wait that’s another song but you know what I mean. If you don’t know Andrea Doria then you should check out Bucci Bag!

In the collection of Plastic Dreams Remixes from 2011 my favorite remix is a tie with Plastic Dreams (Dino Lenny & Amnesia Remix) and Plastic Dreams (Housebangerz feat. Mc Joe Remix). I must say though overall the remixes from 2011 are more along the line of the original Plastic Dreams versus the 2004 Remixes collection of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee which were more banging and big beats. I love buying compilations because with compilations you always discover unique tracks that never get heard anywhere, tracks that are remakes that just get discovered so I love the compilations a lot because it’s one of the best ways to discover new music. Such is the case with this remake of an 80s classic track A Love Bizarre by So Phat! I discovered this cover on Erotic Lounge 2 pictured below. It’s one of those Hotel Costes, Buddha Bar type compilations broken down to 2 discs one being the slower mellower disc the other being the more upbeat collection. They contain a great collection of tracks and this Sheila E. cover is certainly the discovery in this disc. The original was released 6 years ago in 2004 but I just recently got this collection and it’s certainly a good discovery. Check out both the Sheila E. version which has some vocals by Prince and the new So Phat! version of A Love Bizarre.

I Feel Love is one of my all time favorite tracks. I love Giorgio Moroder’s masterpiece of a disco dance track that he created. So I’m always up to hearing new remixes or versions of his original classic sung by Miss born again herself Donna Summer. This remix from 5 or so years ago is quite amazing. I think I Feel Love are the beginnings of electronic music when you check out the original you can certainly hear the awesome bassline that addictive sound that makes you want to get on the dance floor and groove. Anyway Qattara have kept that original bassline and have basically taken the classic disco song to new levels. They’ve basically beefed up the sound and brought it into todays production. Check out both below as I know you will be quite happy with this remix.

Ran across this track recently in my iTunes library. The track is called Trainspotting and it’s off of the album The Man Who Escaped. I don’t know much or anything about Sumo Productions except that it’s an Italian electronic production team off of Cavernjatt Records. Don’t know much about Cavernjatt Records either.

Anyhow this track Trainspotting does a pretty good job of sampling the Kraftwerk track Trans Europe Express. Can’t figure it out if they have sampled Afrika Bambaata’s Planet Rock or It’s a direct sample of Kraftwerk’s Trans Europe Express. What do you think?

The rest of the album is more chill, sexy house grooves but this Trainspotting track reminds me more of the late 90s early 2000′s. True?

I figured since we are now in December a holiday themed post is in order!

This Sleigh Ride, the Ferrante & Teicher popular Christmas track remixed by Ralph Myerz is one of my favorite tracks to play around the holidays. It’s fun, lively somewhat quirky and one of the standout cuts off of the fun Christmas CD called Merry Mixmas. Wait I take that back it’s not on the CD Merry Mixmas it’s a bonus download for that CD release. When I first bought Merry Mixmas this cut was not on there so I went and downloaded it and I wish they had actually included this track on the disc. Oh well stupid major label marketing crap. If you can get your hands on this (well you are able to get your hands on it here) then I would and you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s so much FUN!

I think Mylo’s album Destroy Rock And Roll is genius! I’m mean come on? I’ve got a whole website named after it right? I think it’s one of the best albums of the 2000′s. It’s perfection and this track In My Arms is a great example of a sampling job done perfectly. Mylo has taken the classic Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes and made his own song In My Arms. I’m sure most of you have heard it but did you know it contained a sample of the high energy pop song Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes? Well now you do. Check them out both below and you’ll see.

Bette Davis Eyes is off of Kim’s Mistaken Identity album from 1981. Almost 30 years old now. I was only 10! Enjoy.

I love it when DJ’s or artists remix very well known tracks but legends. This remix was done by Paul Oakenfold of the classic Doors track L.A. Woman I dig it very much. It’s now around 5 or 6 years old but hey L.A. Woman never gets tired and this remix is just the same. It’s not your typical dance remix here Paul Oakenfold keeps the same elements of the original Doors song but the remix has an added oomph factor to it. Check them both out below. Gosh Paul Oakenfold got his start in the late 80s/early 90s and I’ve been following his music since then and he’s certainly come along way and this remix is just an example of his great remixing talents. I was never a big fan of In And Out Of My Life by Adeva but this remix has changed my opinion about this house classic from 1988. It’s been remixed and remade countless times but this remix by Eric Prydz wins me over. Eric Prydz gives it a slight electro touch to the house music classic. Check them both out below. The original by Adeva and the Eric Prydz sampled track which is a remix of his own working of In And Out. The original version below is the 1995 rerelease with a new remix by Roger Sanchez.
