Bostich being one of my favorite synth, pop, new wave dance songs and recently had heard a techno remix by <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fclassics%2Fid299901496" target="_blank">Joey Beltram</a> back in 1992 off of FFRR&#8217;s Only For The Headstrong compilation, Ruffneck&#8217;s take on <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fsolid-pleasure-remastered%2Fid315767666" target="_blank">Bostich</a> was fresh new and very clubby!</p>
<p>Basically if you haven&#8217;t heard <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Everybody Be Somebody</a> it samples the <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Everybody Be Somebody</a> vocals from <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fsolid-pleasure-remastered%2Fid315767666" target="_blank">Yello&#8217;s Bostich</a> track and Yavahn sings the same words over a 4 to the floor house beat. The remixes for <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Everybody Be Somebody</a> are quite nice too. My Favorite is the <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Pepermint Jam Remix</a> but the original version still nice it&#8217;s a toss up for me between the original and the <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Peppermint Jam Remix</a> but I also love the <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Henry Street Mix</a> which adds a bit of a disco flavor, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Benji Edit</a> is quite nice, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">Hani&#8217;s Looooong Mix</a> has been given a bit of a tribal treatment and the <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Feverybody-be-somebody%2Fid250589367" target="_blank">MAW Remix</a> has a sound of your typical house club tune from the mid 90s. All good though and worth exploring.</p>
<p>Enjoy!</p>

<p>By the time Leftfield&#8217;s masterpiece of an electronic dance album Leftism was released in 1995 I had already had the pleasure of hearing several of their earlier singles starting with <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fa-final-hit-the-best-leftfield%2Fid254817662" target="_blank">Not Forgotten</a> all the way back in 1990 to <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fa-final-hit-the-best-leftfield%2Fid254817662" target="_blank">Song Of Life</a> in 1992 to<a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fopen-up-ep%2Fid160352419" target="_blank"> Open Up with John Lydon of Sex Pistols</a> in 1993 just less than 2 years before their amazing debut album Leftism had left a major impression on me and the electronic and dance music culture and since then there has not been as excellent of an album like <a href="http://amzn.to/jMPNit" target="_blank">Leftism</a>. Well there have been but not that many.</p>
<p><a href="http://amzn.to/jMPNit" target="_blank">Afro-Left</a> is the second cut off of <a href="http://amzn.to/jMPNit" target="_blank">Leftism</a> and it&#8217;s one of those African/electronic tribal tech cuts that&#8217;s quite good on it&#8217;s own. It&#8217;s upbeat but not banging but it&#8217;s got a good groove you can get down to. Once you get into the remix <a href="http://amzn.to/iC0Tc1" target="_blank">Afro-Left (Afro-Ride)</a> is when things really get frenetic brimming with electronic energetic XTC.  Afro-Left (Afro-Ride) is 10 minutes of electronic dance music pleasure! It&#8217;s the best remix ever made, I think. The frenetic almost drum and bass style beats don&#8217;t pick up fast it starts quite slow and dreamy. The remix builds starting with Djum Djum&#8217;s singing and chanting then slowly builds up into the upbeat style that I have fallen in love with. If I had to pick the best remix this would be it and I totally love remixes and hear countless remixes over and over again. But this is it. It&#8217;s just the bomb! I was happy to have also heard it on the soundtrack to <a href="http://amzn.to/mybLNS" target="_blank">Wipeout 2097</a> which featured some of the best electronic and dance cuts around 1995/1996.</p>
<p>Two years later <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Frhythm-and-stealth%2Fid206898205" target="_blank">Leftfield</a> released another excellent album called <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=146261.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=5573&amp;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Frhythm-and-stealth%2Fid206898205" target="_self">Rhythm &amp; Stealth</a>. Later disappearing off the face of the earth. Well their still around but nothing has been released from them since then. Maybe something for a 20 year reunion?</p>
<p>If you can get your hands on <a href="http://amzn.to/jMPNit" target="_blank">Leftism</a> do so. It&#8217;s not available as a download on iTunes but Amazon has both the <a href="http://amzn.to/jMPNit" target="_blank">download and the CD</a> so snatch it up. If you can get the <a href="http://amzn.to/iC0Tc1" target="_blank">double disc C</a><a href="http://amzn.to/iC0Tc1" target="_blank">D release</a> even better as you have some great additional remixes or versions of cuts from the amazing <a href="http://amzn.to/iC0Tc1" target="_blank">Leftism album</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://amzn.to/jMPNit" target="_blank">Leftism</a> Track List:</p>

<p><a href="http://www.destroyrockandroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/The-Bucketheads-All-In-The-Mind-CD.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5118" title="The-Bucketheads-All-In-The-Mind-CD" src="http://www.destroyrockandroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/The-Bucketheads-All-In-The-Mind-CD.jpg" alt="" width="330" height="315" /></a></p>
<p>Taking disco and sampling it into house music in the 90s was a regular thing. It happened over and over again and I&#8217;m so happy that that era happened because two of my favorite styles of music had blended together to become an awesome style &#8211; disco house! Disco and House rule! Anyway this is a great example of that style. Take a Chicago house master like Kenny Dope and add a famous disco song from the 70s by <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.280994472&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">Brass Construction</a>, shake it up and end up with a classic 90s club hit by <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.381418658&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">The Bucketheads!</a></p>
<p>Got Myself Together was the second hit off of <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.381418658&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">The Bucketheads</a> one and only awesome album <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000010J?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=beatzblog-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00000010J" target="_blank">All In The Mind</a> didn&#8217;t become as big a hit as The Bomb was but it&#8217;s just as good if not better than The Bomb. I&#8217;m sure everyone remember The Bomb with the classic line &#8220;These Sounds Fall Into My Mind&#8221;? Then you will for sure remember <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.381418658&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">The Bucketheads</a>. The album All In The Mind even contained a 15 minute version of The Bomb for non stop beats. It&#8217;s a classic track now 15 years strong! Phew those were good times in the 90s! Weren&#8217;t they? All In The Mind is chock full of tracks utilizing samples from bands such as <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.28457957&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">Chicago</a>, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.343139563&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">Level 42</a>, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.386863618&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">Atmosfear</a> and <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.283892847&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">Linda Clifford</a>. Boy if you love music that is made up of samples then this album needs to be in your collection!</p>
<p>It was also so unique to discover a Latin/jazz version of Movin&#8217; called Movin&#8217; On by <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=zfEp3K9DhT4&amp;offerid=146261.306304180&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0" target="_blank">Ray Camacho of the Ray Camacho Band</a>. All I have to say is that the 70s rules when it comes to music! Loads of cool hip styles were running all over. Kind of like the 90s and what&#8217;s starting to happen now again! Yay! Keep em comin&#8217;!</p>

<p>NU Energy! A hybrid of High Energy, Techno, Euro House perfectly blended to make a very upbeat, upfront, handbag dance club type music and the Candy Girls led the pack with their fun, quirky, naughty energetic cuts in the mid 90s. Fee Fi Fo Fum is their first big hit that featured Sweet Pussy Pauline on vox. Back in the late 80s, Sweet Pussy Pauline was known for her really naughty acid house hit &#8220;Work This Pussy&#8217;&#8221; search for that online and just take a listen if you&#8217;re curious but Sweet Pussy Pauline was guest vocals on Candy Girls as the Candy Girls were Rachel Auburn and Paul Masterson. They had three or so hits in the 90s and later disappeared. Wham Bam came after Fee Fi Fo Fum then afterwards they did a cover of I Want Candy the Bow Wow Wow classic which was not really originally a Bow Wow Wow song. The Strangelove&#8217;s did I Want Candy originally but that&#8217;s another story that we might feature on here.</p>
<p>Anyway check out both the original 12&#8243; of Fee Fi Fo Fum and the Sharp Dub. Anyone remember Sharp from the 90s? Loved his remixes although they were pretty bassy with the same Nu Energy sound. Sharp are also The Sharp Boys. Big remixers from the 90s! Don&#8217;t forget to listen to Sweet Pussy Pauline&#8217;s vocals well I know you wont miss them as she will repeat the following over and over throughout the entire length of the track. Ok it&#8217;s naughty so keep the kids away.</p>
<p><strong><em>&#8220;Boom Shaka Laka, Boom Shaka Laka, Boom Shaka Laka, Boom Shaka Laka&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Fee Fi Fo Fum, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Look Out Drone Here It Come!&#8221;<br />

<p>Erasure redid a version of Evelyn Thomas&#8217;s High Energy. They released as part of the Fingers &amp; Thumbs (Cold Summers Day) single back in 1995. I think the Erasure version is definitely right on. It sounds very similar except for the difference in the technology behind the making of the music. The Erasure version has the cute synth pop beats that Vince Clarke is known for and the Evelyn Thomas version is true 80s hi-nrg sound.</p>
<p>What do you think?</p>
