  1. Plastic Dreams by Jaydee Remixes!

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Jaydee’s Plastic Dreams is an early 90s tribal trance classic. IT came out with a bang in 1992 and was around for quite sometime. It was one of those early trance tracks that you just couldn’t get enough of. You know Stella by Jam And Spoon, The Age Of Love by The Age Of Love and Plastic Dreams by Jaydee! Before For An Angel by Paul Van Dyk came onto the scene and brought trance to the masses. Then later on in the 90s and the 2000s countless new remixes were commissioned so to this day Plastic Dreams is one of those rare electronic and dance tracks that will never be forgotten about and will continue to receive the remix treatment. The original 1992 version still is classic for me as it has that repetitive ongoing euphoric tribal groove that just wont stop. It’s perfect on extacy. LOL I’m not recommending that you go and dance to this track while you take some E but sure was fun back in the day.

Anyway fast forward to 2011 and new remixes have been released and they are pretty darn good while keeping the spirit of the original Plastic Dreams by Jaydee. But guess what there were remixes of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee released in 2004 as well that are worth noting.

One of my favorite remixes of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee is the Plastic Dreams (Andrea Doria “Is It Breaks?” Remix) as that thing kicks like a mule. Oh wait that’s another song but you know what I mean. If you don’t know Andrea Doria then you should check out Bucci Bag!

In the collection of Plastic Dreams Remixes from 2011 my favorite remix is a tie with Plastic Dreams (Dino Lenny & Amnesia Remix) and Plastic Dreams (Housebangerz feat. Mc Joe Remix). I must say though overall the remixes from 2011 are more along the line of the original Plastic Dreams versus the 2004 Remixes collection of Plastic Dreams by Jaydee which were more banging and big beats. What do you think?

  3. Goin Out by Beatfanatic Samples The Weather Girls It’s Raining Men

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Take the gayest song ever and sample it and make a fun upbeat electro disco recording of it utilizing elements of The Weather Girls Paul Jabara written hit song It’s Raining Men and you have a fun track! That’s exactly what Beatfanatic did with Goin Out. It’s from his album Beat A Part which is chock full of electro disco cuts with a heavy 80s influence. My delicious cup of tea. LOL! I love it and have been exploring more and more of Beatfanatics music lately. Beatfanatic’s music is sample heavy as most of his recordings have one hit 80s disco song or another 70s disco cut. This is a true genius producing music from existing cuts.

Albums by Beatfanatic to note include:

    Soundscapes (21 Deep Cuts)
    Beat A Part
    Vinyl Junkie Culture
    I Love It EP
    Robots EP

So go check these absolutely groovy disco delish albums by Beatfanatic out now and get groovin’!

  4. I Wanna Dance (Boy Norty Edit) by The Cool Notes

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

If your cup of tea is 80s disco then this remix/edit of I Wanna Dance by The Cool Notes is your new favorite song. I Wanna Dance (Boy Norty Edit) by The Cool Notes from Backstreet Brit Funk Re-Edits EP is the best 80s remix that wasn’t released in the 80s. Such energy it has with a very hi-nrg 80s disco dance flavor. The original song reminds me of anything The Jets released in the 80s as I did not know The Cool Notes. Not sure if they had any success here in the states but I doubt it. They are from the UK from South London and the band was releasing reggae music in the late 70s but moved on to doing soul, funk and dance pop in the 80s.

But I’m quite lucky to have found this excellent collection called Backstreet Brit Funk compiled by Joey Negro and it’s accompanying EP Backstreet Brit Funk Re-Edits. Loads of tasty 80s grooves that are so worth discovering.

Never Let You Go (Onur Engin Edit) by Savanna

  5. It’s Our Future by Tom Wax Covers AWeX!

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Techno Acid classic It’s Our Future by AWeX gets the remake treatment by Tom Wax one half of AWeX himself and I have to say I love this remake. It’s the perfect update for the times and the sound today. Although I’m pretty partial to the original as I have probably overplayed It’s Our Future and countless other similar Techno Acid cuts from that era for example Access by DJ Misjah & DJ Tim (one of my favorite cuts of all time) of electronic music this remake to the AWeX classic It’s Our Future by Tom Wax is pretty darn cool.

It’s Our Future became so huge that it was the anthem of the Love Parade in Berlin in 1995!

  6. 12 Mile High (JPOD the Beat Chef Remix) by Thunderball

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Those of you that know of Thunderball probably know of the album Scorpio Rising from 2001. Scorpio Rising was the soundtrack to sexy restaurants and cocktail lounges as you’d hear it as the background music to those types of establishments. Scorpio Rising is one of my all time fave albums from the 2000s and one of the best to play at a cocktail party. It’s just perfection and it’s everything that a Thievery Corporation album is not! Sorry guys! But Thunderball’s been making music since Scorpio Rising and their latest album 12 Mile High came out last year and is basically a progression of Scorpio Rising in 2001 then Cinescope in 2004, their unique combination of trip hop sounds with broken beatz, acid jazz, downtempo and future jazz all thrown in for a intoxicating concoction . But the Thunderball guys decided to take that album to the next level by offering up tasty remixes from the hippest remixers around today. Now this is my cup of tea!!

All the key tracks from 12 Mile High are remixed to the max. My favorite being 12 Mile High (JPOD The Beat Chef Remix) but all the remixes are top notch here with links to check out below.

  7. Free (Teo Moss & Daniel Shems Remix) by Ultra Nate

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

I’ve always loved Ultra Nate as she is a true dance/house music artist that didn’t reach the level of some other similar artists like Crystal Waters or CeCe Peniston but she certainly knows what’s good and she’ll go after it. She was signed to Warner Brothers in the earlier part of the 90s then let go then signed to Strictly Rhythm and it’s at Strictly Rhythm where she achieved most of the her huge success with the very popular Free from her Situation: Critical album.

Free was HUGE in 97 and there were countless remixes of that huge song but the version that caught on was the Mood II Swing remix. Although Full Intentions was also right up there but there was something about the Mood II Swing version that was just a notch better.

Well good news there are new remixes for Free by Ultra Nate that were released late last year that are worth writing about. For anyone into Free or Ultra Nate or dance/pop music then you will certainly enjoy this excellent remix by Teo Moss & Daniel Shems. As always I”m a big sucker for new remixes of old songs and this Teo Moss & Daniel Shems Remix is quite nice in the package of 2010 remixes for Free by Ultra Nate. There’s also a new remix by Bob Sinclar in the package of new 2010 remixes of Free by Ultra Nate. Check them out below.
