    Fix iTunes Songs!

    Having so many songs in my iTunes makes it a very unorganized mess. Trust me I have like 120K+ mp3s in my iTunes and it’s unmanageable. There are so many songs that don’t have any names, or any information attached to it. It’s basically Track 01, Track 02, Track 03 and so on. Nothing else is present in the songs information or metadata information. So no album names, no genre, no years nothing. I don’t really want to sit and Fix My iTunes by hand do I? I’d rather blog about music!!

    In addition to that I have so many damn duplicates in my iTunes. For example I’m a big fan of Pet Shop Boys and I have been buying, collection all of their releases. So I have their actual albums, greatest hits compilations, singles (with remixes), other compilations they have released and so on! So that makes for so many duplicates of the same song. For example I have the song West End Girls in my iTunes 14 times. Phew! Do I need that many? Nope! I need to remove my duplicate songs in my iTunes and I need to do it AUTOMATICALLY!

    Lastly I want to have album cover artwork added to all my songs. There are so many songs that I have in my iTunes that just have a grey music note nothing else. Nothing is attached to a lot of my songs. This sucks because I sync my iPods and my iPhone with a lot of my music and when I don’t have album cover artwork I hate the song even more because the album cover artwork says a lot about a song and artist and I like to see what I’m hearing.

    I need a program that will do these iTunes fixes in my computer automatically!

    Luckily the best program out there is RINSE by RealNetworks. You should download a free trial copy and try it out. You’ll be amazed at how great it is. Trust me once I did this my ITunes has been in tip top shape. Every so often I put all my new music in a playlist and run the software and let it do it’s thing so I can concentrate about blogging instead of fixing my iTunes songs!

    The huge rave monster by The Shamen, Move Any Mountain has been remade by Tim Healey & Marc Adamo. Getting it ready for the 20th anniversary of The Shamen release. Originally it was called Progen but later when they got signed to Sony Records they renamed the song and repackaged the single with countless remixes and an awesome first album En-Tact which was also remixed for the USA.

    Here Tim Healey & Marc Adamo have taken that huge rave dance hit and made an update to it for today. This version is the original and it’s the one that has the most vocals and the one that makes it really feel like an actual cover. Whatever you want to call it a cover, sample, remake they are all possibilities and this is a nice update. I just love hearing new versions of old classics and this one really takes me back to when rave culture had exploded and dance and techno music was all over the place including being played on Live 105 here in SF! Those were the good old days! There are two other remixes with this release and the remix to note is the Dirtycloud Remix.   3. Over The Hill by Tim Taylor VS Thor 54 Samples Hills Of Katmandu by Tantra

    Such an epic disco classic track Tantra’s Hills of Katmandu is and Tim Taylor VS Thor 54 have actually perfected on that classic track. Both versions are quite amazing and Hills Of Katmandu is one of my all time favorite disco tracks. It still sounds quite fresh and way ahead of it’s time when this was first released back in 1979 30+ years ago. Ok it’s not your typical disco track that you would find on an American disco compilation but it’s so worth hearing, owning, loving and appreciating. It’s classic underground, it’s very underground dance club, Studio 54 and so on. Those of you disco lovers will appreciate the original here. It’s a fine example of Euro Electro Disco bordering on Hi-NRG and Italo Disco that would later come into the mainstream. The original, original version of Hills of Katmandu is over 16 minutes long. The version I have here is a mix by legendary San Francisco DJ/musician Patrick Cowley which makes it a little shorter but adding a little more deeper bassline.

    You will also appreciate the remake by Tim Taylor VS Thor 54. It’s tribal techno electro house at it’s best. Released back in 2001 almost 10 years now but still sounding fresh, It’s certainly a great update. They have sampled Hills Of Katmandu perfectly. Check them both out below.

  4. Blank & Jones Remake People Are Still Having Sex by LaTour

    Blank & Jones having taken the LaTour classic dance track from 20 years ago and have remade updated it for now. I do remember when the It’s kept in their traditional style even the vocals sound pretty similar although I like LaTour’s vocals much better especially since he was a voice over actor and it’s obvious. This version is quite cool and the CD single/digital download has several remixes so they are all worth it for any of you dance/club/house/trance heads. Much worth it so check out their other remixes by clicking on the album cover below. I don’t think this remake will be as big as their remake of the Cure classic A Forest but still definitely worth it.

    Two really awesome versions of the progressive house/electro God Deadmau5′s hit track Some Chords! I really do enjoy both of these versions and depending on my mood I go for one over the other. It’s a toss up and really only depends on what I want to really listen. Currently I’m partial to the original but then again I do love the remix. What do you think? Both are darn cool and am a big of the dead mouse!!

  6. Moonbootica Cover House Of Pain’s Jump Around!

    This is a pretty awesome electrofied remake of the House Of Pain hip hop classic from the early 90s! Dark, sleazy electro beats with robotic vox. It’s quite nice and I love it when they take such a classic track from a genre and remake the hell out of it which is what Moonbootica have done here. Good for them! I first heard of Moonbootica with a remix of Tessio the Luomo track from 2001 or so. Later they exploded with a remix of Mundian To Bach Ke the Punjabi MC bhangra hit. So they’ve been remixing for a while now and this track is certainly a solid remake. This remake goes back to 2007 so it’s already a bit old but still fresh sounding. As we approach the 20th anniversary of the House of Pain classic Jump Around this will make do for us as it’s certainly the future in sound.

    If you like their sound you should also check out their release Men Of The Future. It’s quite a nice electro/disco cut and certainly worth hearing it on repeat. It’s quite the sexy, late night groove.

  7. Timespan (Steve Moore Remix) by Majeure

    If you like your music deep dark spacey synth then this release is pretty cool from Temporary Residence Records. I’m thinking this kind of sounds like a late 70s prog rock touches of late 70s disco sort of like the French disco band Space but a lot moodier. Timespan is such a long track nearing 20 minutes in length so quite along journey there but worth it if you like your instrumental electronic music moody with the touches of disco. I’m thinking Majeure kind of sounds like Lindstrom from Norway. But you be the judge both original version and Steve Moore Remix of Timespan below.

    I’m proud to present you with this FREE EP from The Two. Fifteens, a duo out of Cali that combines Hip-Hop, Dub, IDM and other abstract frequencies into a truly futuristic Thanksgiving dinner. This four track *and one bonus* EP is a premiere to their Effective When Used After… LP, and is a great example of what happens when two individuals aren’t afraid to truly express themselves and their influences. Kudos to Darkie (yes, that Darkie) on the cover art, and for the mighty Daddy Kev’s mastering job – they told me that his tweaking really opened up their creations – I’d say rock this in your headphones, but the depth of these subs really belong in your whip!

    Ok did a post about this track Barbara Streisand by Duck Sauce a couple of weeks back and I figured it’s worth posting again. This song that Duck Sauce sample is an old disco Euro Disco classic from the late 70s. The band it’s sampled from is Boney M one of my favorite disco acts that Frank Farian produced. This remake and the original are awesome.

  10. Spooks In Space (Luke Howard & Felix Dickinson Edit) by Aural Exciters

    This one’s a really quirky, fun sort of on the leftfield disco, new wave, no wave track that I really dig. I didn’t know anything about this really cool disco cut when I was growing up. I discovered it about 10 years ago after picking up the excellent disco compilation Mutant Disco from ZE Records. It’s fun really fun. Finally just earlier this year I discovered this more updated remix of the classic cut from ’79 and all I can say is it’s awesome! There’s not much difference between the two versions except that it’s slightly faster and a little groovier. If you don’t know ZE Records then you certainly have to check it out. It’s an underground New York disco/new wave label which features some really cool acts like Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Material with Nona Hendryx, Was (Not Was), Cristina, Garcons, The Waitresses, Suicide, James White & The Blacks, Caroline Loeb and many many more acts definitely worth discovering.

  11. Bhangra Paanch (Nick Thayer Remix) by Fort Knox Five

    Here’s a really cool remix of Bhangra Paanch by Nick Thayer of the recent Fort Knox Five single release. This one’s certainly bouncy with the driving breakbeat style but still keeping the cool Hindi and Bhangra sounds that I really like. I actually really love Hindi music and love electronic and dance music so having both styles perfectly mixed is pure heaven. I’ve been following Fort Knox Five now for 5 or so years and this certainly is a solid release. There are a couple of other releases on this single but this one is certainly the most wicked one that I’m currently digging. Check out both original and Nick Thayer remix below.     This is a fun Latinized instrumental remake of the Francoise Hardy classic song Comment Te Dire Adieu by Blank & Jones. No vocals here just all instrumental music with a very chill, sexy downtempo groove. The remix is called Beach House Mix so you can just picture yourself chilling poolside or at the beach with a cocktail and with the smooth beats of this track. It’s a fun remake and certainly one of many for this very popular classic Francoise Hardy cut. This remix is off of the Blank & Jones album Relax: Edition Five Enjoy and let me know what you think of this compared to the original. Both versions below.

  13. Barbra Streisand (O-God Remix) by Duck Sauce

    Just discovered this really cool track from Duck Sauce and I’m loving it. It’s got a really fun beat and it’s great to dance to. It kind of takes me back to the big beat Fatboy Slim sound back in the late 90s. It’s quite groovy. Duck Sauce is A-Trak and Armand Van Helden and I have to say they are great combination.   14. Amplified Orchestra sample Donna McGhee’s I’m A Lovebug With I Want You!

    I’m so loving this album by Amplified Orchestra. The album is called Play It “Disco” For me and awesome cuts. If you like any retro disco dance music then this is your kind of music. It’s not your 90s house/disco type cuts. The cuts are more along the line of sexy electro funky cuts. More underground and very sexy! The standout cut on this album is I Want You. The amazing thing is that it samples this rare disco song by Donna McGhee called I’m A Lovebug. Check them both out below. The original has a very 70s disco sound but the update with the sample is all now but very retro. Loving it and I still love the Donna McGhee original.
