Pretty cool sampling job by Blue Boy for the track Remember Me. Blue Boy is Scottish DJ, Alexis ‘Lex’ Blackmore and this is his one and only hit. This one dates back to 1997 so it’s 12 years old now but the sample is a live version of Marlena Shaw’s Woman Of The Ghetto. The live album it comes from is Live In MontreauxThis live version of Woman Of The Ghetto was pretty popular for sampling back in the late 90s and early 2000s. It was also sampled by St. Germain for this Rose Rouge track off of Tourist. Very cool stuff. Check out both Blue Boy and original live version of Women Of The Ghetto below. The samples is basically Marlena Shaw singing … “Remember me … I’m the one who had your babies”. It’s perfect. The song reached pretty high in the charts in the UK but here in the states it was pretty underground.
