Fools Gold (Grooverider’s Mix) by The Stone Roses

Here’s a great remix from almost 10 years ago (boy time flies!) by way of Grooverider – the jazzy drum and bass maestro known for his release Mysteries Of Funk from 1998. He’s taken the classic indie, Manchester or shall we say Madchester sound song Fools Gold from 1989 and made it a faster, club friendlier track. Fools Gold in it’s original form is already an indie dance classic along with tracks like Loaded and Come Together by Primal Scream and Step On and Bob’s Yer Uncle by Happy Mondays.

Fools Gold was the stand out upbeat track from the The Stone Roses – they are known for I Want To Be Adored but Fools Gold was the big, extra long dance cut off of the mostly indie, modern rock acts releases from the late 80s.

This remix is proof that remixing music is an art form and Grooverider has taken a classic modern rock track and elevated it to a brand new electronic, drum and bass level.

This remix is from the great series of mostly hip hop tracks called Old School Vs. New School which also included remixes of tracks by such artists as A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
Check them out and let me know what you think. Feel free to comment.
