  1. Horny As A Dandy (Original Mix) by Mousse T vs. The Dandy Warhols

I love this mash up of Horny by Mousse T Featuring the vocals of Hot ‘N’ Juicy and The Dandy Warhols Bohemian Like You. I like the original but it’s a little too housy and of course it sounds a bit dated for today but this recent mash up sounds quite nice and more ‘now’. You think? Tell me what your thoughts are on these two versions. I think you will go with the more recent version but you never know some of you may prefer the house sounds of the 90s over the rock, new wave electro sounds of the last couple of years. I like both but really into the new mash up.

  2. Mr Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Mix) by The Killers

I do like The Killers – well when they are remixed. I don’t hear everything of their remixed but when I find out that there’s a remix for a song then I make sure I snatch it up because I know they will be great. Especially since this is remixed by Stuart Price aka Jacques Lu Cont aka Thin White Duke. I like his remix style very much and his producing style is great as well. Madonna’s Confessions On A Dancefloor and remixes of that album were cool and of course who can forget the Les Rhythmes Digitales. So Stuart Price is in top form for this remix and this remix has so much fun energy and great singing from The Killers frontman. It’s definitely worth hearing owning. Check it out and compare it to the original. I think the remix is far superior! Don’t you?

  3. Relax (Jam & Spoon Hi N-R-G Remix) by Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Remix a classic song like Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood? Fuck yea! Do it and do it even more. This remix set came out back in 1993, just around the corner from the release of the Frankie Goes To Hollywood greatest hits set and I immediately went crazy for the Jam & Spoon Hi N-R-G Remix. I knew Jam & Spoon from their awesome trance classic “Stella” track and was searching out more from Jam & Spoon so this was a great find and true it’s quite awesome!

I absolutely love this remix. It starts out quite slow and euphoric with a very long build up and then it becomes so fast and furious that it can bring the house down. It’s kicking so hard. It’s quite awesome.

Check it out and compare the original with the remix. I think you will see a totally different track. Way to go Jam & Spoon. I don’t know what those guys are up to these days but this is them in major top form. Immediately after this remix for Frankie Goes To Hollywood Jam & Spoon released Tripomatic Fairytales 2001. One of the better electronic albums of the 1990s. If you don’t have it then you should definitely find it and own it!

There’s been countless other remixes that have been done for Relax but this Jam & Spon Hi N-R-G Remix is a cut above the rest!

    Enjoy!

  4. Living In A Magazine (Paper Faces Remix) by Zoot Woman

When I first heard this remix of Living In A Magazine from the Zoot Woman album of the same name I hadn’t heard the original. I love this remix as it’s quite energetic. The version that I’ve only heard comes from a Miss Kittin mix CD – I forget the name now but throughout the track on this mix you can hear Miss Kittin’s voice. It’s interesting as it adds a nice touch.

The remix is quite different than the original. The album version is more alongs the line of a synth pop bands album from the mid 80s. Something that sounds like it comes from the UK so its good on it’s own. Bands like OMD, Human League, Heaven 17 or even a Flock Of Seagulls. So the remix is quite energetic and it’s definitely heavy on the bass. You listen to both and let me know what you think of the sound.

The remix is available on the single of Living In A Magazine although I’ve had such a hard time finding it!

  5. Troy (Kay Cee Power Mix) by Sinead O’Connor

     Powered by Max Banner Ads

Well I figured my second post on Destroy Rock And Roll (http://www.destroyrockandroll.com) should be a remix of a pop/rock track and one that is pretty beatless and heavy on the dramatic vocals and very orchestral/classical sounding background.

Sinead O’Connor is in top form here on Troy which is pre Nothing Compares 2 U – the Prince cover that put her on the map.

So the Remixes to Troy came out in 2002 and this Kay Cee Remix is the strongest cut in the bunch and there were a ton of mixes. I love this – it’s still pretty dramatic in the vocals as they are all there but the beats are so heavy that it takes you on a fast euphoric journey. This is a track that you can really blast in your car and cruise the streets. Just make sure you don’t run anyone over but hey you can really do that if you get carried away.

It’s awesome. Check out the original and the remix and write a comment and let me know what you think.

  6. Destroy Rock And Roll (Tom Neville Remix) by Mylo

I figured my first post on Destroy Rock and Roll should be Destroy Rock and Roll – the Tom Neville Remix. I do like the original off of the Destroy Rock and Roll album by Mylo and it’s perfect! That album is one of my all time favorite albums from this decade if not forever. It’s perfection!

This remix is alot more boompsy and not as flat as the original – the original to me is just a pop album cut. Well the version below is the edit from the album. This remix has the ultra hard bass which makes it perfect for clubs. Right? Compare it to the original and you’ll see what I mean.
